There is bio for Arthur Simkins b. 12 Mar 1819, s/o Eldred, gr s/o Arthur Simkins, Sr, br-on-law of Andrew Pickens Butler and Francis Wilkinson Pickens. Apparently, this Arthur did not fare as well as his gr father or his father either. He was in "poor finanacial straits and had sold his share to Francis W. Pickens who wrtoe on that date to James Edward Calhous that ' Arthur was far more in debt that I thought he was. He was entirely unable to take the place at all, and he freely told me so a week before the sale ... Arthur was in great distress. I then determined to make him safe. I let him take 3,192 ac of land in MS on the Yazoo R. at the lowest valuation ... Gave him 41,000 in cash, gave him a home and place to work for a year ... I think that Arthur has got from me about $12,000 .. if he cannot now recover his lost fortune by it, I am done with him for ever and have told him so. My children will not allow me to help him again. I hav edone for him as if he were my own blood brother, but can do no more. I cannot bear his wife (Mary Bonham, d/o John Whitsel Bonham and Sarah Pou with whom Arthur had one child before Mary d. 21 Mar 1845) and shall certainly advise him to go to MS ... Arthur didn't go to MS Other than the fact that his uncle by marriage (George Youngblood m. Nancy Simkins, sister to Arthur's father, Eldred) is a Youngblood, there is no other connection in this biography brief. Personally came Nancy Jane YOUNGBLOOD before me and deposed on oath that the following is a true statement of the cause which led to her assault on Sarah White and to which she has pleaded guilty at the present term of Court. that her husband, William A. YOUNGBLOOD was a carpenter employed by the contractor at the tunnel in this district, that then indigence required her to labor with her own hands to aid in the support of the family consisting of three small children. that she with the consent of her husband opened a boarding house at the tunnel for the laborers on the work, that she did nearly all the cooking and washing for from ten to twenty five boarders. .. she hired a woman who called herself Sarah Busclark, that after the woman had been in her employ about two or three weeks she learned that her true name was Sarah White and that she was a loose woman. That at the expiration of her month she dismissed said Sarah. That the manner of her husband changed very much towards her about the time the woman left and insisted that Sarah White should be retained. She would not assent. ... she learned that her husband was constantly visiting Sarah ... this deponent had rendered in her board bill to the contractors amounting to $124 for board and washing for laborers. Her husband ... engaged board for Sarah ... he was to take Sarah, steal away the oldest child and go to South America to work on a contract to build a railroad. (Nancy) sent to the office of the contractors to get bread and meat for herself and family, ... messenger returned saying that nothing was due this deponent. She didn't eat from Sunday till Thursday. Was satisfied that Sarah White was the cause of her want, shame and distribution. She counnselled (sic) several friends all of whom advised her to give Sarah a good whipping with the hickory. (NOTE: Which she did!) ... her husband has returned to his home and has treated her with a tenderness, kindness and consideration worthy of his duties and obligations. ... she throws herself upon the clemency of the court ... sworn 20 Mar 1860. /s/ Nancy Jane YOUNGBLOOD. Ambrose J. Smith states that he has known Mrs. YOUNGBLOOD from her infancy and that she herself has for many years past been a member of the Methodist Church. James Lawrence and F. N. Garvin made oath that Sarah White is reported to be a common prostitute. Simeon YOUNGBLOOD. Deed Bk B, p60. Probate Judge Office, Pickens, SC. Does anyone know anythin about Soloman Youngblood who died in the Goliad Massacre in 1836? I saw his name on the monument over the mass grave where approximately380 men, murdered by Santa ana, were buried. His company was Company #1 under Captain William Wadsworth of the Georgia Battalian. Later he was in Captain James Winn's Company #3 also of the Georgia Battalian. Both of these captains were from Georgia, and the Georgia Battalian consisted mostly of men from Georgia and Alabama. A few Mississippi and Louisiana men may have been added as the group traveled from Georgia to Texas, in 1835. Kay Walker
Hey Youngblood Family, Thanks for so many helping look for E.A Youngblood "Gus". Just to let you know I found him in GA and through a lot time found his father. I am listing this below. Now I would like to ask if anyone has information on a Elbert Youngblood born about 1820 in GA (maybe a slight chance Albert) and married to Eliza (believed to be Taylor) in Houston County 1842. He was in Houston COunty, GA Census 1850 and 1860. Eliza is without him in 1870 Census in Dooley COunty. If anyone connects with my line please let me know. I also have found out other information not listed below. Please read below to see if anything may ring a bell. Send a not to me personally if you like at byoungblood@compuserve.com. I will also continue to check our Youngblood family communication here! Joyce, thanks again you have been a big encouragement! Dorthy, thanks also for taking the time to drop me a few noted to help along. I am still at a major challenging place but have found some major missing links this week. Does anyone know anything at all about Soloman Youngblood who died in the Goliad Massacre in 1836? I saw his name on the monument over the mass grave where 380 men, murdered by Santa Ana, were buried. Some research has turned up his company, which was Company #1 of the Georgia Battalian, under Captain William Wadsworth and later Company #3 under Captain James Winn. Both of these captains were from Georgia, and the Georgia Battalian consisted mostly of men from Georgia and Alabama. A few Mississippi and Louisiana men may have been added as the group traveled from Georgia to Texas. Since Soloman changed to the Winn Company, and since Winn was from Gwinnett County, GA, I suspect Soloman may also have been from Gwinnett County. Perhaps he knew some men from that company and that was why he changed. For a while, Wadsworth, reported him as a deserter.

Cousins, Earlier, I posted this URL for a (10 day) search from Ancestry.com. A few people emailed me that this is not a free file. However, I am not a subscriber to Ancestry.com and I just got off this site, having not had to pay for it. The email I received was originally dated 8/24, meaning it expires today. Why I can get in if it's expired, I don't know. However, I've taken full advantage of it; gotten as much info as possible, then spent the day in Houston's wonderful genealogy library to verify some of it. Click here: Ancestry.com - Ancestry Genealogy Library The url is: http://www.ancestry.com/ancestry/search3174.htm Regards, Joyce Zachman, Sugar Land, TX

James, Where was your Andrew Youngblood? Sara ----- Original Message ----- From: James Seamans <seamans@nlm.nih.gov> To: <YOUNGBLOOD-L@rootsweb.com> > 1. ANDREW1 YOUNGBLOOD1 was born August 10, 18441. He married LUCINDA MOORE1 April 29, 1866, daughter of DRURY MOORE and MARY YEOMANS.
I am searching for the parents of Joel Leroy Youngblood, born 1820 in Twiggs County Georgia, according to my information. Joel Leroy Y. married Ruth Ann Porter, moved to Alabama in 1860 and then to Texas in 1869. I believe Joel Leroy had a brother, Wylie B. and a sister, Martha L. Kay Walker (Great great granddaughter of J.L.Y.)
My branch of the Youngblood family descends from Nicholas Youngblood (Jungblut) born about 1712, who arrived in Philadelphia on the Ship St. Andrew 2 oct. 1741. His first wife and three children died during trip to America. He married Anna Maria Kappler on 7 Dec. 1741 in Tulpehocken, Berks, Lancaster Co., PA. Children born were: Daniel bap. 17 Sept 1742, Lebanon Co. PA; Casper; Susanna; Thomas, bap. 30 Jan 1748 Lebanon Co. PA; Maria Barbara, bapt. 7 May 1751 Lebanon Co., PA; Catharine, bapt. Feb. 1755, Lebanon Co., PA; Anna Maria, bapt. Lebanon Co., PA; and Charlotte. Irma A.
