http://moa.cit.cornell.edu/MOA/MOA-JOURNALS2/WARO.html Cornell University has put the ENTIRE "War of the Rebellion" on the internet!!! Over 60 volumes!!! It includes scanned images of reports, correspondence, seizures of Southern property, etc. sent to the War Dept. during the Civil War. It includes both Union and Confederate accounts. It is in chronological order but there is a painfully slow index at the end of each volume. Coz dmx7@earthlink.net

Carla, Thank you for your note below. I am glad to hear you had not intended the message for any one person! Knowing this will allow all of our Youngblood cousins not to be hesitant to send messages. Dear Youngblood Family and Dorothy, I appreciate reminding of our "rules" and "appreciate use" and believe we should respect each other. I personally do not want to believe the reminder message was intended for Dorothy. If so, I believe it is out of order. Let me explain. The message Dorothy posted, and others like it, are appropriate and needed! We ARE here to share our research and encourage each other as we hunt relentlessly. Yet, we ARE also here to discuss authenticity of documents and make sure of the accuracy of our research. We need to be aware of discrepancies and information that has been published that does not match up. Too many people publish books today without proof of family origin. I , along with many of our Youngblood family, believe this must be corrected and want the Youngblood Line to be as "PURE" as we can help it be to preserve it for the future. We live in a society that is saying that we must "tolerate" each other and that "each person has the right to believe what is true and who is to say it is not true" ... This is wrong thinking as far as genealogy research is concerned and many other things. There is absolute truth and true facts in our family research. We should not feel bad when we need to debate or when someone finds contrary facts. We should be thankful and engage in discussion. This is what moves us to the true facts. Therefore, Youngblood Cousins I do not believe it is improper or against the policies of RootsWeb to correct research that has been produced knowingly or unknowingly with wrong information. Also, we have freedom to debate each others findings when we see need. This is what makes our study refined and purifies our authenticity. We together are much stronger than apart. If someone can not "handle" or "accept" this kind of scrutiny then such a person will have a hard time refining their research. We need this and I encourage Dorothy and others to continue to openly share discrepancies if it is presented on our YOUNGBLOOD -List. Futhermore , Dorothy and others please do not stop pointing out discrepancies. This is needed. I appreciate your humility and generosity and we do need to be kind but not at the expense of getting to the truth. Keep those emails going and research postings going. Do not fear the dreaded "that s a no no from someone". We need to be bold and hold to high standards. We need to openly share facts about our line even when it is a little uncomfortable. We need to protect the integrity of our Youngblood Family Research. This is right and proper. Keep it going Cousins! Yours Truly, James Benjamin Youngblood, Jr. (Benny) byoungblood@compuserve.com Fairhope Alabama
Hello All! I haven't been researching on the net all that long.....but I do know that I have found errors in work that was done by an aunt at a time when the people and dates in question were alive and available for questioning!! It is not beyond the pale for anyone to make a mistake. I think, for anyone to make a credible impact, we all have to not be so super-sensitive about being corrected. I, for one, would rather leave for my children a record of correct information and I hope that anyone who discovers inaccurate information in my records lets me know about it!!! Dorothy, I have Youngblood ancestors. I have no idea yet whether or how closely we two are connected, if at all. However, I do respect all the work you have done and thank you for the time and effort and love you have invested in your work. Thanks for everything! Beverly
Mrs Quaife, re your reply to recent posts to list. This Thomas Youngblood (husband to Amy Hopkins) is my g.g.g.g.grandfather. Many things in this fragmented line are as of yet unproven. One of which is who were his parents? Some said James, some Peter. I have no idea. All I know is he (Thomas) was born in Maryland. Can you help? Regards, Gail
My sincere apologies for the last posting - it was not at all my intent to flame anyone. Sorry! Dorothy
Hello Cousins! It's been a while since I posted anything and I thought I would post the rules for this list. This list is for the genealogical and historical research of our ancestors with the surname of YOUNGBLOOD and various spellings of YOUNGBLOOD. At this time, the rules for this list are those outlined by Rootsweb which are (that is subject to change as deemed necessary): "quote" Do not send spam e-mail messages to mailing lists. Do not send attachments (attached files) of any sort to mailing lists. This includes URL shortcuts, v-cards, GEDCOM files, zipped files, and any other type of attachment. Do not forward virus hoaxes or chain letters to mailing lists. Do not use HTML or RTF (rich text format) in messages sent to mailing lists. Do not cross-post messages to multiple mailing lists on the "To:" line or the "Cc:" line of the e-mail message. Do not send e-mail messages to mailing lists for which the topic is inappropriate. Do not flame other members of the mailing list. Be nice to one another "unquote" and Do not violate any copyright laws. Please take a moment to read the Acceptable Use Policy of Rootsweb, since they are kind enough to host our list at: http://www.rootsweb.com/rootsweb/aup.html It was my desire in starting this list to provide a place for us all to be able to discover more about our ever elusive ancestors. I hope you are enjoying this list as much as I am. On a final note, I would like to remind everyone of the wonderful resource made available by Rootsweb for the YOUNGBLOOD surname at this url: http://resources.rootsweb.com/surnames/y/o/YOUNGBLOOD/ I wish each and every one of you luck on finding your elusive YOUNGBLOOD ancestor or just finding out more about them. Kindest regards, Carla Karbowski Clifton YOUNGBLOOD List Manager email: cclifton@flash.net
Wanted to comment on the Austin records - While most of these are accurate in themselves - where she put them is not. (For instance - in these just posted by Dianne: this Thomas is not the brother of Jeremiah or son of James). If the records for Benjamin are from "The Georgians" - these are not correct, either. Benjamin was said to be her ancestor in this, but on the Youngblood disk she has for sale, she has changed it to the Peter Youngblood cited by Kay Lant as the ancestor of the Indiana Youngbloods in that book. This is the Peter Youngblood of PA/MD - but he was not the Peter Youngblood of Orange Co., NC records.. I contacted Mrs. Austin some time ago about this, but her only reply was that she would have to look into it. Dorothy
Hi, I just wanted to make this comment: A Youngblood in Maryland in 1850! Wow, that's rare! Seriously, most of the postings to this list ask about Youngbloods from North Carolina, South Carolina, and on southward. I'm still trying to learn more about Peter Youngblood in Maryland in the 1750s. He's not a direct ancestor, but may have a clue to my FISCUS line. Thanks for letting me emote, Pam (Fiscus) Hatch You wrote: > I am looking for information about Louisa J. Youngblood (Youhgbluth) who > was born around 1850 in Maryland. Hi, here I am again for the 3rd time in one night. Last night I down loaded the paf4.02 genealogy program from the family search.org. It is really great and it is free. I also down loaded the in struction book for it free. this program really does alot of things. I also down loaded the companion 2.O that you can use with it. The Ancestry.com has the book for paf 4.0 on sale now for $14.95. Dianne Gordon for San Marcos, CA

Hi cousins, Sense Joyce Zackman of Sugar land, TX lost her records, I have really missed getting all that neat information. So I thougt that I had better put some in because I got quite alot of information of of her research papers. I am having trouble with my e-mail address. Dear Friends: I am looking for information about Louisa J. Youngblood (Youhgbluth) who was born around 1850 in Maryland. She married someone named Schmidt, had two children, and then married William Riehn on May 12, 1874, in Cape Girardeau County, Missouri. The 1880 Cape Census shows Louisa living next door to Charles and Caroline Youngbluth. Charles is 29 and Caroline is 20 and listed as sister. All three: Louisa, Charles, and Caroline, list Maryland as their birthplace and Prussia as the birthplace of both of their parents. Is this ringing a bell with anyone? Thanks for your help. Dave Conley P.S. In my search for Louisa Youngblood's ancestors, I have pulled together a little information about some Kentucky and Tennessee Youngbloods from Census records that I am willing to share if it will help someone.
