Hello all, Does anyone know when this book was originally published? I know that there are some YOUNGBLOOD researchers who believe that the Peter YOUNGBLOOD who can be documented in Maryland may not be the same Peter YOUNGBLOOD found in Orange County, NC. Any comments or information? P.S. Dorothy, I really am going to write. When I had four babies in four years in the '70s, I had no idea how complicated life would be in the '90s after they were married. Sometimes my email just has to wait. :-) Happy Halloweeny! 3. Hi, in the Ancestry.Com newsletter at-http://www.ancestry.com/ancestry/search/4084.htm they have where you can search the South Carolina magazine of Ancestral Research Vol. 1-20 and it is free. I found several on the surname of Youngblood. They have a book review from SCMAR, Vol.XVII Number 1 Winter, 1989 Pg 59--- Research and Remembrances of YOUNGBLOOD, Martin, Perry, Kelley, McKinney, McWhorter by Delois Kelley Youngblood. Hard cover, 179 pages, photographs, charts, surnames index. Price $32.95. Order from Dekey Publisher, PO Box 11671,Charlotte, NC 28220. This genealogy traces Peter Youngblood, a native of Germany who was naturalized in 1739 in Prince George County, Maryland. He removed to Orange Country, NC, and later to Granville Country, SC. Later generations were in Edgefield and Pendleton Districts. The Virginia origins of the allied family of Martin are included in this compilation. The Kell(e)y family included in this genealogy stems from a Virginia family who came to Anderson District, SC. The McWhorters are traced from Pennsylvania, through Rowan Co.,NC, to Abbeville and Pickens Counties, SC. Full texts of some wills are included as well as some other documentation. They also had other references and reviews and notices. You type in your surname and it brings up how many hits they have and then you can go and read them. Also on Eastman's Newsletter last week, they have a website for the website for a free down load of the Old Pendleton Dist. or you can buy the cd for $15.00. with upgrades for $10.00. I hope this helps someone. Dianne @ dgordon3@home.com

    3. Hi I have been researching my Youngblood history for some years. Can anyone help me find the parents of my ggrandfather William (Billy) Youngblood who lived in Titus Co TX in 1880? He married Martha Speer and they had several children in Titus Co. The family tradition is that Billy had a brother Harv or Harvey who I found in Early Texas Births and having children born in Cooper or Delta Co TX. I have a large number of Youngbloods from that era in Miss. Ala and GA However I haven't been able to tie any of the families to my William. He was born in 1849 and died in 1882. Would appreciate any help. Thanks Jerry Youngblood Hamilton

    2. Dianna Drake
    3. Researching my gggrandfather, Charles R. Youngblutt. According to US census data, he was born in Hesse Darmstadt in April, 1824. The records show that he came to the US abt. 1837, and became a US citizen in 1847. He married Lydia DARING (or Young, two docs give two different maiden names) before 1851 (their first child Jacob was born in Ohio in 1851). If these dates are correct, he would have arrived in the USA at the age of 13 - based on that, I am considering the idea that he came here with his parents as opposed to coming over alone. He eventually lived in Van Wert and Mercer Counties in OH. My gggrandmother, Lydia DARING was born in Pennsylvania. It is possible that my gggrandfather arrived in Pennsylvania before moving to Ohio. Another person researching people from Hesse Darmstadt mentioned his DOERING ("americanized" to DARING) family from Hesse Darmstadt who settled near Scranton, PA. Charles's trail is pretty cold - I have only found a few records that even let me know he existed - specifically: the 1900 census (he and his son, Henry, are living as boarders near his daughter, my ggrandmother); my ggrandmother's death certificate; and a blurb about my ggrandparents in a Mercer County history book which shows he and Lydia as my ggrandmother's parents - it also said they were living in Van Wert County, OH (very close to Mercer County). I know that the Youngblutt translation is kind of strange - part English, part German. It is possible that any relatives who arrived with him changed thier names to YOUNGBLOOD - or kept the more German verison, JUNGBLUT(T)(H). Charles and Lydia had three children that I know of: Charles R. Youngblutt b. April 1824 in Hesse Darmstadt +Lydia Daring (Young) b. in Pennsylvania m. before 1851 ..1 Jacob Youngblutt b. 1851 in Ohio ..1 Elizabeth Youngblutt b. 28 Sep 1855 in Ohio .....+Enos Drake b. 1857 in Ohio ..1 Henry Youngblutt b. March 1861 Please let me know if you can provide any information on Charles, OR any suggestions on how to proceed from here. 3. Good morning cousins, I have sad news to convey; Velma Brassell Beuerle died 8 Oct (yesterday). Some of you knew my great aunt as she corresponded with several and met many over the years. She was 94 years of age. Aunt Velma conducted genealogy research for about 50 years and was the one who sparked my interest in the subject. My family and I visited with her this past July; she was well and in great spirits. She was also very pleased that I and a cousin, another niece of hers (Gladys Robbins Wren) had taken up the torch to continue the search for family connections. She was a fine woman, one I loved dearly and will miss greatly. She was born 24 Sept 1905 in Simpson Co, MS to Virgil Vanderbilt Brassell and Mary Viola Mullen (d/o Samuel Beckton Mullen, Jr and Roberta Guynes - if my memory serves me). Her funeral is at Cashner Funeral Home, Conroe, TX; she'll be buried at old Willis Cemetery, Willis, Montgomery Co. TX on Tuesday, 12 Oct. She is survived by one sibling, Mertis Elaine Brassell Hassell of Conroe, TX and many nieces and nephews. Velma had no children. For those on this list who are not related to this particular line, please forgive my placing so personal a message. I am visiting my daughter in CA and do not have my e-mail addresses with me. I'm returning to Houston Monday. God bless each of us in our every day lives and in our searching and honoring our ancestors. Regards, Cousin Joyce Zachman, Sugar Land, TX

    3. I think the confusion about the Abrahams may be due to the fact that another Abraham who was much younger than my Abraham was listed in Burke Co., GA census records in 1820, 1830 and 1840. This Abraham also married a gal named Amy (Smith). There was also another Abraham in Columbia Co., whose letters of administration were opened for his estate in 1797. This is the one cited in the message we all received. This is definitely not the Abraham who married Amey McNeil. He was alive and well until November 1848 when George Dykes administered his estate. Abraham and Amey had moved to Sumter Co., GA by this time. Amey apparently died sometime before 1840. Abraham is listed in the census as alone with 8 slaves. So many Abrahams, so little time!!!!!!!! 3. I have information at odds with what was posted in regard to Abraham Youngblood. Please consider the following and let me know what you think. Abraham Youngblood, b. abt 1769, d. Sept. 1, 1847 in Sumter Co., GA married Amey McNeil, daughter of Daniel and Sarah McNeil. Abraham was the son of John Miles Youngblood, Jr. and Mary ? In about 1774, John Y., Jr. received a grant for 300 acres on Little Kiokee Cr. in what is now Columbia Co., GA. and he later acquired additional land on the same creek. On 8 Aug 1801, John, Jr. transferrred part of these two surveys to Abraham and his wife Amey. In 1804, Abraham sold that land to John Allen, and in the deed states "including the former residence of my father, John Youngblood." Amey relinquished her dower rights to this property. This was the land on Little Kiokee Cr. Joshua Youngblood, a brother of Abraham also married a McNeil girl, Catherine, a sister of Amey. Abraham and Amey had the following children: Rebecca, Elizabeth, Maria, Henry Burl (my ancestor), Hiram D., Matilda, and Thornton M. I know this is terribly at odds with what was posted recently. I would really like to have the sources on the children listed and the parentage of Abraham. He states clearly in the deed who his father was, and there is no doubt about his wife at the time of the property transfer. Not trying to argue here, but real interested in getting all this straight -- again. Looking forward to hearing from all of you guys. Sara Youngblood

    3. I really appreciate all of your support and encouragement, (and thank you for the nice things said), but Carla was right - I should have just offered corrections and not gone into the whys and wherefores. We've just got so many great cousins on this board that it's easy to forget formalities. Reminding us of the rules couldn't have come at a better time and as they say, if the shoe fits.... - I'll take my 30 lashes with a wet noodle and try to do better in the future :-) We certainly couldn't have a more caring and dedicated list manager than Carla - she's a sweetie, so don't be upset with her! Several have asked for more information on Peter Youngblood of PA/MD -- I really can't offer much more than is already known, that is documented. Pam found an interesting document that places him in Frederick Co., MD in Aug. 1751 - Peter verified that a debt owed him by Frederick Fiskis, for which the bond had been lost, had, indeed, been paid. (The receipt was for 100 pounds current money of Pennsylvania). There is also a couple of interesting bits in "This Was the Life - 1748-1765" (Frederick Co., MD) - where the Grand Jury indicted Michael Risener for beating John Youngblood, (Nov. 1750) - and in Aug. 1762 - Uncle Uncles petitioned the court to have Susanah Youngblood, daughter of John Youngblood, bound to him. (Michael Risener/Resener was the one who sold Peter Youngblood the land called "Cattail Marsh" on Pipe Creek in 1741; Prince Georges Co. - which fell into Frederick Co. when it was created in 1748. And it was a "Mr. Uncles" who was the locator of Peter Youngblood's lands being resurveyed in 1749). How John Youngblood was related to Peter is up for speculation - we know he wasn't a son, but perhaps was a brother - and with John's daughter being bound out, it's possible he had died by 1762. I have to agree with a couple other researchers that Peter probably died in Frederick Co., MD - but I believe it was his sons - and his widow (probably Mary Wheals), who came to SC just before 1770 and settled in what was then the old Proprietary county of Colleton, in St. Bartholomew Parish. (This became part of the new Charleston Dist. in 1769, then to Colleton County, again, in 1785). But this Peter Youngblood was not the same one on the 1755 Orange Co., NC tax list. For one thing, his 4 kids were all born in Germany before 1728, which would indicate he was probably born before 1700 and would have been too old to pay taxes in 1755 - -- and the Peter in Orange County was divorcing his wife, (Sarah), in 1753. Bill, you're the only one I know who descends from this line - have you found anything further since we last debated this? Perhaps you would like to add more - sometimes it's easier to disprove something than to prove it! Dorothy
