I am going to pass on a tidbit of Info 1816: The year without a summer As a result of the eruption of Mt. Tambour Volcano in Java 1815, 12,000 island residents lost their lives. The Volcano is also to blame for an unusual weather pattern the following year in North America, resulting in mass migrations of people trying to avoid the ensuing climatic changes. The summer of 1816 was unusually cold, with killing frosts and even snowfall destroying crops throughout the United States. June and July were the coldest months, 19 states had snowfall in June! There were no fall harvests; animals and people starved; wild animals ravaged the frontier. Not understanding the meteorological causes, people blamed the wrath of God for their hardships. Some, destitute and despondent, committed suicide. By 1817 the climate had returned to normal. However, many had moved to warmer parts of the country and numerous farmers left for the cities to go into industrial work. If you have no explanation for why your ancestor may have migrated or you can not determine exactly when it happened just sometime around 1815-1820 consider that this event may have been the cause. from the Jefferson Co. Really appreciate all the Youngblood help...amazing how much info is out there. But I am still looking for the connection to the Youngbloods in Georgia where I was born. My grandfather was Charles Ellis Youngblood, from middle Georgia.

I would certainly like to get the rundown of the genealogy of Abraham Youngblood, who m. Amy McNeill 1March1787, and whatever you have on his brothers, and parentage. If you do not wish to E-Mail what you have, then please send it to me at: Beverly Rich, 2300 Seaview Drive, Port Townsend, WA 98368. I will be most grateful. Thank-you. Beverly Rich
In my previous message I listed John Cooper as marrying Margaret B. Youngblood in Lawrence Co. Alabama. They were married in Holly Springs, Marshall County, Mississippi. Would appreciate any info on who Margaret's parents were, and any generations before them. Sharon Cooper sacbbbs@airmail.net
I am looking for info on my great great grandmother, Margaret B. Youngblood's ancestors. She married John Hensley Barber Cooper in about 1850 in Lawrence County, Alabama. Eventually moved to Red River County, Texas in 1859. Had a sister named Marilla who married John Cooper's brother, William. John and Margaret had 10 children: Mary (died as an infant), James Lee (my great grandfather), Green, Henrietta, Sashel, Willie, Johnnie, Lilian, Lannie, and Lewis Leander. Have no info beyond Margaret. Want to know about her parents, and however far back I can go. Thanks! Sharon Cooper sacbbbs@airmail.net
August 7, Sarah Youngblood posted her genealogy re. Abraham Youngblood who m. Amy McNeill, 1Mar1787 in Edgefield County, S.C.. I hadn't read her letter until now, and find that this Abraham was actually said to be a brother to Amos Caril Youngblood I who I just wrote about. Again, this info. came from the Cloys-Smith book. Listed as other siblings of Abraham's and Amos' were: 1. Isaac Youngblood who m. 2Jul1788 in Edgefield County, SC. to Elizabeth Youngblood. 2. George W. Youngblood, m. 24Oct1788 to Nancy Simkins. (Dorothy Quaife says that this man was actually the son of Peter Youngblood, so this an error.) 3. Joshua Youngblood, m. 30May1789 in SC to Catherine McNeill. 4. William Youngblood m. Elizabeth J. Garret 21Dec1826 in Greene County, TN Is there anyone out there who knows who the father of these 4, 5, or possibly 6 boys was? William also may not be a sibling of the others because he is many years younger than the others. It would be wonderful to shed light on the mystery of who their parents were, and whether most were brothers or not. Does anyone out there know? Beverly Rich
Excuse me, Timothy Hoskins: I made an error in listing the siblings of Martha A. Youngblood. The first sibling I listed was Eudora. She was NOT a sibling of Martha's. Eudora Ann Celestine Youngblood, b. 1843 in KY, was a niece of Martha's. The actual first sibling of Martha's who I should have listed was a male whose name is not known, who was b. between 1800 and 1810 in South Carolina. He was the father of Eudora who m. Isaac Lafayette McCain, and also was the father of James Samuel Youngblood, b. 1859 in Lafayette County, MS. Again, this is all according to the book, which I earlier quoted in error. Beverly Rich
Especially for Timothy C. Hoskins: I am quoting from a book entitled: THOMAS YOUNGBLOOD FAMILY by Cloys and Smith which states the following: Martha Ann Youngblood m. 23Jan1845 in Marshall County KY, by Henry Darnall, M.G. to William Thweatt. Martha Ann was the 10th, and last child of Amos Caril Youngblood I (1770/80-21Oct1836) d. Calloway County, Ky, m. 1800 in Edgefield County, South Carolina to Elizabeth "Betsy"___(1786-1870) b. VA. d. Lafayette County, MS. In 1841, Betsy was on the Marshall County, KY tax list. In 1850 Eudora and James were living with Betsy, Lafayette County, MS, (probably grandchildren.) Martha Ann Youngblood's 9 siblings were as follows: 1. Eudora Ann Celestine Youngblood m. Isaac Lafayette McCain. They had 12 children. 2. Sallie Youngblood m. Burrell Jones. They had 10 children. 3. Female Youngblood, b. SC in 1813. 4. Elvira Catherine Youngblood m. William W. Jones. Had 4 children. 5. Mary Polly Youngblood m. Dozier Jones. 10 children. 6. William F. Youngblood m. Sarah J. Thweatt. 5 children. 7. C. W. "Cad" Youngblood m. 1) Lucy F. Reed, and 2) Nancy Burgess. One child by Lucy, and 5 by Nancy. 8. Female Youngblood. 9. Amos Caril Youngblood II m. Martha Jane Haley. 9 children. According to a descendant of hers, Elvira Catherine Youngblood was part Cherokee Indian which would make all of the above Youngbloods part Cherokee also. However, this is denied by other members of this family. What do you know about an Indian heritage, I would like to know? This book goes on in detail to tell the descendancy of the family of Amos Caril Youngblood II, and tells more also about some of the early descendants of Amos Caril I. It also tells of their ancestry, but some of the ancestry is in dispute. If interested in a copy, I suggest you E-Mail Wayne Youngblood: youngblood@apex.net His Aunt wrote was one of the co-authors and he would know how to obtain a copy. I am a Youngblood related to you. Hope to hear from you. Beverly Rich

Timothy (and others), This is intriguing. Are these your ancestors, including Eudora A.C. and Isaac L. MCCAIN? If so, we are related through THWEATT, MCCAIN, and possibly YOUNGBLOOD also. My Sarah THWEATT is also a child of Isham and Elizabeth THWEATT. Sarah married William F. YOUNGBLOOD. Their daughter Elizabeth Ann YOUNGBLOOD married Charles Wesley MCCAIN, a brother of Isaac L. MCCAIN, in Lafayette Co, MS. I'm curious about Eudora Ann Celestine. The few stories I have seen give her the surname of Youngblood, not Thweatt, but also say they don't know who her parents are. Yet I have seen a census which makes it appear she is the daughter of a Martha Thweatt. Do you know the story there? Is she a young Youngblood widow when she marries Isaac McCain, perhaps? There are several clues that cause some confusion here. I am inclined to think--though I haven't looked far in my records--that your Martha may be a sister of my William F. YOUNGBLOOD, and therefore possibly a daughter of Amos and Elizabeth YOUNGBLOOD. I don't have proof, but just a clue or two. 08 Feb. 2000 I am searching for information on JACOB YOUNGBLOOD. He was born May 19, 1816 and died Jan. 28, 1899. He married Martha (?), who was born Nov. 26, 1831 and died March 20, 1920. The only child that I have noted is ABRAM GARON YOUNGBLOOD. He was born Oct. 1865 in Webster Parish, LA and died aft. 1933 in Sibley, Webster Parish, LA. Abram married Mattie Ann Matilda Brunson, bef. 1889. Mattie was born Nov. 1870 in Webster Parish, LA and died 1936 in Sibley, Webster Parish, LA. Children of Abram and Mattie: Nora, Minnie Mae, Edwin Clive, and William L. Thank you in advance for any assistance! Deborah Riner
