    3. Gedmatch.com is a free site that you can upload to.  DNA.land also. I am sorry you lost your brother.  FTDNA keeps samples to do additional testing if needed.  There are other sites as well. If you use facebook there is a great group called DNA Detectives that is very helpful. Karen Sent from my U.S. Cellular® Smartphone -------- Original message --------From: [email protected] Date: 10/6/17 11:14 AM (GMT-06:00) To: [email protected] Subject: Re: [YOUNG] Three Young families in my Ancestry My Children are YOUNGS out of West Virginia, Ohio area.  Putnam Co. specifically.  I should do my son's DNA because his father, uncle and grandfather are gone.  He has one uncle left who has a son.    My son has a boy so hopefully when he has kids HE will have a boy and keep this line going.  Everyone else are girls.  My problem with DNA is this....... is there a central database where all the different companies, Ancestry, 23&me, FTDNA etc, can all hook up?   I can't afford to do testing with each company and especially with my brother's DNA, we did through FTDNA, he has passed away so there is no more samples to get.  Janean -----Original Message----- From: YOUNG [mailto:[email protected]] On Behalf Of Margie Barton Sent: Wednesday, October 04, 2017 3:20 PM To: [email protected] Subject: Re: [YOUNG] Three Young families in my Ancestry It is so nice to see someone researching the Young surname. 2. Thank you, I have absolutely NO CLUE how all this works. I've tried reading but with adult ADD it's virtually impossible because I find I have to look up so many terms it just gets to be like I'm drowning. I need to work with someone especially on my mother's test and tell me what they mean. Ugggg Once I understand something I can become a pro at it. It's just getting it digested first. 3. DNA for the father's line, DNA has to be all male, from father to son all the way and it the Y67 marker test. You can't determine a father by testing the female DNA....ever.
