I have checked out this book at the library and here is what I have found. I hope this is a help to someone, and yet again, not the YOUNG family I need. Last name in all is YOUNG, then first, middle initial or name. When I was unable to get the entire given name on a page then I skipped to the next line giving first, then the middle followed by the information. City I have abbreviated, KC, for Kansas City, Indep. is Independence, and OGr. is for Oak Grove, and Grnwd is Greenwood. I have put information according to what is listed in the book for YOUNG's. The abbreviations they used for Bon. meaning Bonus are: PD=paid, NA=No Application, UNP=Application made but no action taken, DIS-disapproved, KA=Killed in Action, DS=Died in Service. It should be noted printed in the book anyone wishing to inquire about them when a claim # is given it is to be used. These are the claims for Jackson County, Missouri only. There is much information on these people. Elva Beltz a life member started the volume by carbon copies of these Mo. state bonus apps. The whereabouts and the original records is unknown. Some military records were lost to fire in 1973 at the Military Records Center, Jefferson Barracks, St. Louis, Mo. These bonus claims may be the only extant documents available for many of these men and nurses. Compilation began in 1987 by the Jackson Cty. Genealogical Society to put in book form by under the direction of Michael J. Kozisek, contributions, and proofreading are also listed. in the preface.
