Hello again, I am interested in hearing from any of you Young researchers who may be researching the Young family of Floyd Co. KY and Putnam Co. IN (or in the nearby regions of these counties). My Charles Young was born circa 1787 in Virginia. He migrated on into Floyd Co. KY prior to 1827. He was still in Virginia in 1817 when his son, John, was born. However, both states have been listed as the birth of his son, Israel. On the census where Israel was still living, he is listed as having been born in Virginia. On the census of some of his children, however, his birthplace is listed as Kentucky. Also, according to census, Charles and Mary's daughter, Nancy (who married Hiram T. Weathers) was born in KY in about 1824. So, it is probable that Charles moved to KY in late 1822 (Israel was born in February of 1822) or sometime in 1823. According to what I have read on the web, some of the Wayne Co. KY Youngs were connected to the Floyd Co. KY Youngs. Can anyone expound on that for me please? I believe the trace is said to be back to an Israel Young whom emigrated to the US from Scotland in the very early 1800's? Since, my branch of Charles and Mary's family is also an Israel Young, and since our family was also in this region, I am wondering if our family is somehow connected to this early Israel. Any help in making this connection would be most sincerely appreciated.
