Marlys and the list, You are the third Marlys that I have ever heard of. My sister is a Marlys. In any case please let me know if this is of any help. Please note everyone, that I am willing to do limited look-ups for any Iowa marriages for Youngs. The request was as follows: any information about several of their children who were born in Iowa. These include: Madora E.Young born abt 1857, George E. born abt. 1859, Frances A. born abt. 1865, and Lottie born abt. 1869 who married Charles Fox. They had two other brothers, Voorhees and Guy. They also had a sister Nettie. Woorhees was my grandfather. This is taken from a CD of Iowa marriages that does not list any sources. My guess is that it is a compilation of other published lists of marriages. Therefore if you find your research interest, I suggest that you write to the county court or go to an LDS family history center to get copies of the marriage documents involved. I was not able to find a marriage for Lottie. Does anyone know what it is short for? Nor was there a Voorhees or Woorhees or anything similar. To look at a county map of Iowa, go to www.USGENWEB.com and select the table of states, and click on Iowa. It will show you a state map with all of the counties. Once you select which marriages are yours (if any), you can see which counties are near each other. I have an exhaustive collection of Hawkeye Heritage magazines published by the Iowa Genealogical Society, that I can look through for you, once you establish which counties your ancestors were in. They contain many records not published elsewhere. You can check the 1880 census on-line at www.familysearch.org to verify a lot of the information about where your family lived.
