Hello, Everyone -- I am new to this list and this is my first posting. JASPER NEWTON YOUNG was born in Georgia on October 20, 1834 and according to his CSA pension application, in 'Wilkerson'. This may be Wilkinson or Wilkes County since I cannot locate 'Wilkerson' in Georgia. He married MARGARET E. MASSEY on 1 May 1856 in Leake County, Mississippi, daughter of JOSEPH MASSEY, an itinerant Methodist preacher, and CATHERINE RAY. By 1860, Jasper and Margaret and two daughters were in Calcasieu Parish (Lake Charles area), Louisiana and he served under Captain Benjamin in the 1st Louisiana Cavalry during the Civil War. After the war, he and family moved to Polk County, Texas were he lived until his death at age 92 in 1927. Margaret died in 1871 and in 1873 Jasper married SARAH FRANCES PEEBLES, daughter of RILEY PEEBLES and SARAH RUNNELS, of Polk County, formerly of Henry County, Alabama. Frances died in 1893 and in 1894 Jasper then married MARY ANN MCKEE, daughter of JAMES MCKEE and MARTHA CATHERINE NICHOLSON. He fathered at least 20 children with these three women and has many descendents. He is my greatgrandfather and my brick wall! All census records where he is listed show him as born in Georgia and as having both parents born in Georgia. I am searching for information on his parents, grandparents, siblings, cousins -- anyone related to him. If any list member knows ANYTHING about JASPER NEWTON YOUNG or if any of these names are familiar to you, I would be most grateful to hear from you!! Regards, Jayne Young Manuel
