I have been away from the List for a number of years and now need to finish this family line but am still stuck.  Could anyone help me with any information on John YOUNG b. 1780 d. 1860/70 DeKalb Co., TN - wife Lucinda Jane CANTRELL b. 1787.  I am looking for the parents of this John YOUNG.  Any help would be greatly appreciated. Sue Ann: I don't have any information on your particular YOUNG-CANTRELL family, but they are only slightly older than my own Moses Young who married Cynthia Cantrell in SC. Moses was born c1800, Cynthia was born c1805. They married 1824 and migrated to TN/MO. My John B. Young, 3rd child of Moses & Cynthia, was born 1827 in TN. Like you, I cannot find parents for Moses Young. Other records show Lucinda Jane Cantrell as born in Rockingham County, NC, to Aaron Cantrell and Martha Smith. Searching on the parents, I found this family for "Janey Cantrell" and "James Young" (http://wc.rootsweb.com/cgi-bin/igm.cgi?op=GET&db=linda5&id=I23984): 1. Isaac, b 1807 2. ???, b 1811 3. James, b 1815 4. ???, b 1817 5. Wiley, b 1825 I'm not sure how accurate these records are since the submitter shows "James" married to two different women at the same time. The same submitted genealogy shows "Lucy Cantrell" (daughter of Aaron and Martha) married to "John Young". Dates for John differ slightly from yours. http://wc.rootsweb.com/cgi-bin/igm.cgi?op=GET&db=linda5&id=I23850 Perhaps the submitter thought Lucy & Janey were two different children of Aaron & Martha. All of the other genealogies of Aaron & Martha do not show these as two daughters. Regards, Elsi
