7/20/2002 Subject: William Young and Elizabeth Chapman Dear Folks: I would appreciate any help and guidance you could please provide me with in this search for my ancestors William Young and Elizabeth Chapman. Here is the information I have gathered about them to date, would like to learn about William Youngs ancestors. William Young, as I understand it, was born 3/13/1749 in CT and died 2/22/1802 in Mt. Hope, NY. I suspect that he was buried in that area too perhaps. He was a shoemaker by profession. Elizabeth Chapman was born 11/15/1752 in Brewster, NY and died in 1838. Her parents were Issac Chapman and Mary Paddock. The couple had several children-William Young, Jr, Peter, Shaw, my ancestor, Issac, Thomas, Elizabeth and Polly. Shaw is the only child I have information on: he was born 6/6/1778 in Brewster, NY, died 3/13/1865 maybe in Oneida County, NY, was buried in Mt. Hope, NY and married Hannah Grumann about 1800, that might be wrong age wise. Shaws name is on a YOung headstone in Deansboro Cemetery in Deansboro, NY in Oneida Co, NY and it states that he is buried in Mt. Hope, NY, that is all the Deansboro Cemetery knows about it. I do not have any more prior information on our part of the Young family past William and I would like to learn more about them please. It may be that William is a common name for Youngs, do not know, but would like any help anyone can give please. I do have Young information from Shaw as that line joined with the Whitneys in 1825 at the marriage of Shaws son William Grumann Young to Polly Whitney.
