    1. [YOUNG] Hannah Young
    2. Warren County, Ohio Vol. II Page 758-759. More of these short biographies. Michael Maher, farmer; P.O. Oregon; was born in Kilkenney Co., Ireland, Oct. 15, 1812, of parents Patrick and Catharine (Chail) Maher, and at the age of 18 years emigrated to America, stopping at Quebec, where for two years he was engaged at "flat boating;" thence he removed into the State of New York and remained four years and a half; thence to Hamilton Co., Ohio, where for two years he was employed in constructing pikes; thence to Warren County, where he has since resided. Feb. 14, 1839, Mr. Maher was united in marriage with Hannah Young a native of Ohio, but of parents of English and Irish descent. They became the parents of the following named children: William born May 15, 1840; John Y., born March 4, 1842; Catherine deceased, born Sept. 1, 1845; Richard born Sept. 1, 1847; Mary born Sept. 3, 1849; Lydia born June 21, 1854; Anna M. born April 28, 1857, and Hannah E. born Feb. 27, 1861. Mr. Maher was educated in his native country. On reaching the state of Ohio, he was among the first to discover stone coal in the now great western metropolis of Chicago; he is now residing on his own land- - - a farm of 60-odd acres lying some miles east of Lebanon, enjoying the hard-earned fruits of the labor of earlier years. 1. [YOUNG] Elizabeth Harris Young
    2. This is the next one I have come into contact with as I am reading through this book that has little biographies of people that lived in Warren County, Ohio. This is Turtle Creek Township Henry Hizar, the son of Henry and Parthenia (Evans) Hizar was born in Penn. in 1808 and emigrated to Ohio with his parents July 4, 1816, he was educated in Warren Cty. and on May 1, 1856 , married Miss Elizabeth Harris Young, daughter of J. H. and Catherine (Smith) Young, her father was born June 25, 1826 and emigrated to Ohio in 1835. Our subject by this union had born to him two children, viz., Charles L. born Feb. 26, 1857, and Louella born Nov. 28, 1861, *since deceased. Mr. Hizar owns a fine farm on the Lebanon & Wilmington pike, about three and a half miles east of the former place. * Footnote the book is dated Chicago W. H. Beers & Co. 1882. That would say that Louella died before 1882. As I come across the Young families while reading this book I will try to put them in the Young newsletter to perhaps aid someone out there. I am typing what is in the book. I do not have any further information and not using any census and or back up material. This is a book I checked out at our local library. My husband is reading Vol. I so this is coming out backwards. I am typing what I find in II first. Judy Born with a twelve foot question, looking for a six inch answer.

    3. I have Charles Young from Germany bn. about 1757/59. His parents and he settled in Philadelphia. Charles served in the Rev. War and than settled near Martinsburg, Berkeley Co. VA/WV. Probably he had a brother Philip who was a silversmith and lived in Martinsburg. Another brother located in PA and one in CT, who had a son William. Charles and his wife Catherine Elizabeth Kint/Kindt separated and she came to Ohio with all but one of her children. 1. [YOUNG] Caroline Young
    2. I found this in the book: The History Of Warren County Ohio Vol. II Page 739 William A. Gallaher, farmer; P.O. Monroe; was born in Turtle Creek Township, Warren Cty. MO. March 8, 1818; he is the son of John and Elizabeth (Nye) Gallaher, the former a native of Penn. of Irish descent, and the later a native of Rockingham Cty. Va. of German descent. A biography of the father appears elsewhere in this work. Our subject was brought up as a farmer and has since been engaged in that occupation; he was married Sept. 15, 1846 to Caroline daughter of John Young, of Turtle Creek Township. They had three children, viz, John Franklin, Horace Q. and Lizzie M.; his children have all had the best educational advantages offered by the schools of Cincinnati, Oxford, and Lebanon. Mr. G. is a Republican in politics, and with his estimable wife, is a member of M. E. Church; he has a handsome residence and 340 acres of well-improved land; his close attention to the minute details of his farm operations is fully attested by the neat and tidy appearance of his premises. Everything is in the best of order and all arranged for the greatest convenience of the residents. Truly Mr. G. is a model farmer; his eldest son, John F. was born in this county Aug. 27, 1849, and, on the 11th of Feb, 1873 married Clara A., daughter of George and Harriet (Keever) Longstreet, and to them have been born Eva. C., Birdie H, Lizzie K., and William L. He owns and occupies 200 acres of land adjoining his father's tract. Of the other son and daughter, Horace Q. is living with his parents, and Lizzie M. is the wife of L. D. Parker, a merchant of Piqua, Ohio. Not any that I know of to be the ones I am looking for yet hoping to help someone fill in some blanks. Judy Born with a twelve foot question, looking for a six inch answer.

    1. [YOUNG] Warren Cty. Ohio, Young
    2. In the History of Warren County Ohio, Volume II by W. H. Beets & Co. Sure sounded like possible for my Henry Young, but the birth date does not make it correct. Besides the wife is not right either. Unless the date is wrong, and something happened to the first wife as is possible so although not much of a chance this is my Henry T. D. Young born July 4, 1847, maybe this will help someone. I am not giving up though. There could be an error somewhere and this could still be in the running. But if this will help someone else then here it is. Number 1043 Of the book says: William Young, farmer; PO Pleasant Plain; of German origin, born in this country March, 10 1821; his father Jacob Young, was a German by birth and was born about the year 1772; he participate in the wars of Europe under Bonaparte, but not admiring the disturbed condition of affairs of his native land, he sought and opportunity and came America, at the early age of 23 years; he married Miss Elizbeth Fullington, a worthy young lady of Maryland. They settled in this township in the year 1813, and he died at the advanced age of 80 years. Mr. Young was united in marriage Feb. 3, 1847 to Miss Abigail Snell, a native of this county and born June 12, 1821. They have five children- - - Henry R. born Feb. 23, 1847, and married to Miss Gregory; James F. born Feb. 10 1853; Jane I, born June 12, 1855, married; William A., born Jan 11 1858; Alma born July 25, 1864; and Mary E. May 20, 1849, (deceased) Henry Snell, father of Mrs. Young was originally from the state of Maryland, where he was born April 12, 1792, he married Mary Runyan a native of Virginia, born June 15, 1799. They were closely identified with the interests of this county, and after lives of usefulness she died July 24, 1854, and he at the advanced age of 84, Oct 28, 1876. The subject of this sketch received the rudiments of a common school education and is an industrious, frugal and hospitable citizen; he is fully alive to the stirring times and aims to keep pace with human progress and improvement; his farm of 116 acres of land is well improved, and an imposing brick mansion costing $3,500 with its cheery surroundings, is his home. There is other Young's listed in the book with stories about them as well. Some mentioned because one of the persons that was mentioned have married them, or they are the parent. Regardless of names that you are researching, if they are anywhere...and I do mean anywhere in the south ...don't limit your imagination....check this site out from page one, and do be smart and watch for collateral names and the year dates. Don't limit yourself to just one county either. Over 3000 names. When you finish, thank Ginny Keefer, a well known researcher!! I found my Whites and Youngs from Va and those from SC also, am fairly sure, because of all the collateral names. 1. [YOUNG] Leven YOUNG-Fayette Co KY. Estate settlement
    2. Hi folks, I got the copies of the Estate papers for Leven/Levin YOUNG, that Leslie Nash, a local researcher, got for me at the courthouse. If you have someone in Fayette Co,KY, this is the best buy you can make. Even if this turns out not to be my family, they are the most interesting documents. They are dated 1841-1843. It comes in three parts, each abt 3 pages. ( 11X17) Very readable. 1. First is the Account of the Personal Estate, and Appraisement of same. ( Leven was a Shoe Maker, it is a long list, including his shop and home.) 2. Is the Sale of the above . ( They got just short of the app. value at sale). 3. The Administration, which I think is the most interesting. Here we find that they made payment for Lot 117 at the Presbyterian Graveyard. ($20). Then they paid James Wilson $8 for digging the grave, and "removing the old body"! Does anyone know why this was done? Could you just get someone else's grave? Who's? Something! They paid for "Gazette and funeral tickets," and to hire a funeral hack. He also owed $111., for the balance on his residence. Then all his debts, and credits, go on for a couple of pages. There is many, many names of Lexington people in this settlement. Those who owed him and those he owed. ( Administors were: Joseph MILWARD, and Charles G. YOUNG) There was no formal Will for Leven Young, but in the settlement, it names the Legatees, and they all received the same amount, so I assume they were sons, (the Youngs), and the two others, husbands of daughters? I will ask for marriage records later on the list, to see if they m Youngs. Legatees: (Each awarded $60.00) Joseph MILWARD Charles G. YOUNG Isaiah KING (sic) A. YOUNG John C. YOUNG L.P. YOUNG S.P. YOUNG George H. YOUNG and L.P. YOUNG, as guardian of G. W. YOUNG There is also a Thomas YOUNG, but he was owed a small debt, and was not listed as a legatee. I will add what I know on the above when I finish the census records Leslie Nash's address is ptsearch@bellsouth.net She charged me $7.00 and that included copies and postage. I did not know Leslie until the Clerk of Court recommended her to me. She is an asset for researchers in Fayette. Co. KY. Carleen Carnivale

    1. [YOUNG] Leven Young estate settlement & Youngs named
    2. Fayette Co KY. (Lexington) I don't have the copies yet, but I had a record searcher look for a will for Leven Young for me. Here is the abstract she send on ahead. Carleen "What I found in Fayette Co for Levin Young was an appraisement of his property. It appears he was a shoe cobbler? This was done on March 10, 1841. Then there was an account of sales of his personal property, 1842. Last there is a settlement in March 1843. There are some Young's listed in the settlement. Charles G. Young S. P. Young L.P. Young A. Young John C. Young George H. Young Thomas Young There was no will for Levin. The above named items were in Will Book P. There may not have been a will. The original estate papers are in the Archives in Frankfort. The originals have been copied by hand into these books. " ------------------------------------------------------------------------------ --------------------------------------------- _Could the "A" Young here be Ambrose?(There is a marriage for an Aaron in 1805. but both he and Ambrose are named in other wills?) _ L.P. is Leven P. ( have later census for him) He was Leven Perry Young, lawyer. -Charles G, was there in 1840. -Another Young researcher has a Thomas b 1818 in Lexington. I found no census. -One John, also a shoe maker

    1. [YOUNG] Warren Cty. Ohio
    2. I am interested in finding a family in Warren County Ohio. I think they are in the census: but I need to look this weekend. This may be the one I have been looking for. William Young, b. 1822 in Ohio, wife: Abigail Snell b. June 12, 1821. Children: Henry Young b. 1847 Warren Cty. Ohio Mary E. Young b. 1849 Warren Cty. Ohio. Our Henry T. D. Young was born July 4, 1847, the census says Ohio. It also says his father was born in Ohio. Another thing Henry had a daughter named Mary E. Young. He also had a young son that died named Warren. That makes me think this may be the tie that would make these persons a good candidate for being the parents of Henry. Henry lived in Chariton Cty. Mendon, MO. I also found there is a George W. Young in the same county in 1870. We do not know if there was any other family there. However there is a George W. Young as I said and his family was or could be the same area. A George W. was born to a Joseph Young and Nancy. It appears that Joseph and William could be brothers. Circumstantial evidence, but this could be cousins living in Chariton Cty. Is anyone looking for these and could they be tied together? Judy Born with a twelve foot question, looking for a six inch answer.
