    3. Hello to all, Again I must thank everyone for their support. Alot of people have been writing me for details and I have not had them until now. I must warn that if you are faint hearted to delete this message now. I am writing this through many tears. Joshua was found about 7 am by 2 fishermen at the Des Plains River in Ill. near Joliet not in Mich. like I was told earlier. This was not told on the news , but the family gets the terrible details. he was shot in the head and a chain was wrapped around him to wiegh him down. Odds are the same was done to his sister but she is yet to be found. My husband is beside himself along with the rest of the family. I am passing all messages to the mother in hopes of sending her some comfort. The best place to go for info would be www.google.com go to news and type in Gleeson. All newspaper articles can be found there up to date. I am sorry to send this, but as I said, some people have been asking. Again, we appreciate all the support and prayers. 2. I am in the process of transcribing the 1850 Federal Census of Wapello County, Iowa. I ran across the following. Perhaps this can help someone. District 13- 6 September 1850 Enumerator Jos HD Street Page 818 Household and Dwelling#145 (next door to Smith and Shoemaker families.) Name/Age/Sex/Birthplace Jonathan A. Young 30 M Ind Eliza A. Young 30 F Ind Mary 12 F Ills Margaret 10 F Ills Martha 6 F Iowa Maria 4 F Iowa Samuel 1 M Iowa Note: Color, Occupation, Real Estate Value, Married within year, attended school within year, adult who cannot read are all left blank. This does seem to be a farming area. All other heads of household were farmers on this page. All other households have real estate value. Perhaps he rented or share cropped.

    1. [YOUNG] Iowa Young marries Baker
    2. The following appeared on the Wapello County, IA list. The following article was posted on the Decatur Co, Iowa list. It may be of interest to someone on the Wapello list. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ BAKER-YOUNG MARRIAGE Leon Reporter, Leon, Iowa Thursday, September 9, l897 A very pretty wedding took place last night at the home of MR. and MRS. NICHOLAS BAKER, on East Second Street, when MISS MAE LOUISE BAKER was united in wedlock to MR. LEW H. YOUNG, of this city. At half past seven the bridal party marched into the parlor to the strains of Mendellsohn's wedding march, played by Miss Helen Foulke, of Agency. There was neither bridesmaid nor groomsman, but the bride was attended by little ANNA CURRY as flower girl. The marriage ceremony was performed by Rev. J. Hollister Lynch, Rector of the Episcopal Church, the pretty Episcopalian ring service being used. The bride was beautifully dressed in a simple gown of cream satin, and carried white bride's roses. After the wedding, which was attended by a few relatives and friends, a reception was given, and friends to the number of one hundred were received at the home of the bride. MR. and MRS. YOUNG left on the Burlington No. 2 last night on an extended eastern trip. On their return they will for the present reside with the parents of the bride. The bride is one of Ottumwa's most charming young ladies and is well known in othe social circles of our city. She possesses a wide acquaintance in the city and all know her but to admire. The groom is a prominent young business man of this city, who for years has been connected with the wholesale drug house of J.W. Edgerly & Co. He is a trusted and highly valued employee of this firm and has won his high position through natural capability and strict attention to the duties assigned him. The Press joins in heartiest congratulations and well wishes. May their married life be as pleasant as the evening of their marriage. Those from out of the city who attended the wedding are Mr. E. Jones, daughter Maude, and son, J. Paul of Creston, Miss Margaret Bauer, of Chicago, Miss Helen Foulke, of Agency and Mr. and Mrs. Young, of Leon, parents of the groom. --Ottumwa Press September 8. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------ -- Copied by Cordelia Suzann "With permission from the Leon Journal Reporter" November 25, 2002

    3. Thank, Carleen, the 1880 census for KY, Lincoln Co. shows this Fount Young being age 29 and Mary E. being 28. That would make him born abt. 1851, and if married in 1869, he would be 18. This could be it, not sure. --- CCarnivale@aol.com wrote: > David, > I found this marriage, but he would only be 15 yrs > old at this time. Are you > sure abt his birthdate? 3. Looking for info on a Fountain/Fount/Fontain Young who was born abt. 1854 +/- in KY. He married a Mary E. and had children James B., Sally B., Joseph B. and Belle M. He might have remarried after Mary died. Perhaps he is the same F. Young who married again in TX abt. 1889 and had several more children, dying in 1919 and is buried Letott Cem. in Dallas, TX. 2nd wife could be Betty E. Willhight.
