    1. Re: [YOUNG] Nellie Young Marriage
    2. The CD is titled; Early Iowa Marriages, Copyright 1999 by Charles Morford. (500,000 Early Iowa Marriages 1834-1900.) One more thought on this. Once you have the date of the marriage, the local newspaper might have carried an article. This would list parents and other family. You might be able to find volunteer look-ups through the Dallas county USGENWEB site, the rootsweb mailing list for the county, local genealogy society, or local library. I have had good luck with all of these in other counties. Also, if you send for a copy of the marriage from the county clerk (I think I said county court in my previous e-mail. The brain was not connecting to the fingers.), be sure to look at who officiated at the wedding. Sometimes this can tell you which church the family belonged to. Even if it only says the Rev. so and so, sometimes further research will reveal which church the Reverend was with. http://www.rootsweb.com/~iadallas/lookups.htm http://www.rootsweb.com/~iadallas/Societies.htm From the Dallas County USGENWEB Site Young, S., farmer, Sec. 18; P.O. 1. [YOUNG] Dallas Co. Iowa Marriages
    2. Hi everyone, I think the topic of the inquiry may have confused folks. I had answered a query for Dallas County, Iowa. I only have marriage information for Iowa, so if your request pertains to Texas, I can't help. Sorry for any confusion. So if your Young query, (or really any name) pertains to Iowa I will look it up. Also I have a large collection of magazines from the Iowa Genealogical Society which has records organized by county. If anyone wants me to do a look-up in these records. Note, please send separate e-mails for marriage and IGS look-ups. I will send separate responses. Thanks. Joe

    2. I found a marriage listing Dec 5, 1894 for Nellie F. Young & John Christ. Harrison in Dallas County. There is a long list of marriages for all Youngs in Dallas. Also in Dallas are Nellie Young marrying Harley V. Foote or Harlley V. Boots on January 3, 1901. It is always possible this is a second marriage. I have a long list of Young marriages for this county, if you would like it. There are also quite a few Harrisons. If you would like me to search the Hawkeye Heritage Iowa genealogy collection for Dallas County, please e-mail off-list with the subject heading "Dallas County-Due Jan19." 1. [YOUNG] Young Marriages in Iowa
    2. Marlys and the list, You are the third Marlys that I have ever heard of. My sister is a Marlys. In any case please let me know if this is of any help. Please note everyone, that I am willing to do limited look-ups for any Iowa marriages for Youngs. The request was as follows: any information about several of their children who were born in Iowa. These include: Madora E.Young born abt 1857, George E. born abt. 1859, Frances A. born abt. 1865, and Lottie born abt. 1869 who married Charles Fox. They had two other brothers, Voorhees and Guy. They also had a sister Nettie. Woorhees was my grandfather. This is taken from a CD of Iowa marriages that does not list any sources. My guess is that it is a compilation of other published lists of marriages. Therefore if you find your research interest, I suggest that you write to the county court or go to an LDS family history center to get copies of the marriage documents involved. I was not able to find a marriage for Lottie. Does anyone know what it is short for? Nor was there a Voorhees or Woorhees or anything similar. To look at a county map of Iowa, go to www.USGENWEB.com and select the table of states, and click on Iowa. It will show you a state map with all of the counties. Once you select which marriages are yours (if any), you can see which counties are near each other. I have an exhaustive collection of Hawkeye Heritage magazines published by the Iowa Genealogical Society, that I can look through for you, once you establish which counties your ancestors were in. They contain many records not published elsewhere. You can check the 1880 census on-line at www.familysearch.org to verify a lot of the information about where your family lived. 1. [YOUNG] Othniel YOUNG down to Isaac, then Jonathan, then Abner, RI to CT
    2. BBFFRRPP
    3. Good morning, I received some new information last night, and did more on-line research this morning. And, the Jonathan YOUNG and his son, Abner YOUNG, which I have just found out are on my family tree .. seem to be descended from Othniel YOUNG, through his son, Isaac YOUNG. By putting Othniel Young into a search at www.google.com .. I found this web page from a www.rootsweb.com web site: Sorry. I asked my question too soon. I just did a search for Othniel at www.google.com and found him. He was in RI during the Revolutionary War. This is from a web site at www.rootsweb.com The family herein under consideration has had its seat in what is now the town of Burrillville, R. I., since the close of the American Revolution, in which conflict Othniel Young, who is mentioned below as head of the family, served as a member of the Continental forces. (I) Othniel Young, great-grandfather of the late Charles Henry Young, for a long time one of the foremost dealers in real estate in the Pawtuxet Valley, was a resident of that section of Rhode Island which borders on the State of Massachusetts, in what is now the town of Burrillville, R. I. He enlisted as a private in a Providence company in 1776, and afterwards received a pension from the government for his services. He was drawing a pension March 4, 1831, at which date he was seventy-six years of age. Othniel Young resided in Burrillville, at the home of his son, Alpheus Young, with whom he was living in 1840. The name of his wife is unknown. .. If I'm reading this correctly, Othniel was born around 1755. But, the article does not mention which YOUNG family he came from. If he lived along the MA/RI border in the 1700's, then he could have very easily been descended from the Barnstable County, MA, YOUNG families. And, Othniel's son, Isaac YOUNG, could very easily headed a little bit north into Windham County, CT, where his son, Jonathan, was born in 1820. It seems that both a Jonathan YOUNG and an Abner YOUNG were born around 1820 in CT. The wife of the Jonathan YOUNG who seems to be the father of the Abner YOUNG born in 1855 in Killingly, CT, was Janette DORMAN. ... But, I found another Jonathan YOUNG mentioned in the 1880 Census who was married to Emily ___. They were listed as ages 60 and 59, and were in Killingly, CT. (They had 2 children still at home: Emily and Charles.) I also found out that there is a book on "John YOUNG of Eastham, Massachusetts, and some of his descendants." But, there seems to be two John YOUNG's, one who arrived in Plymouth and one who arrived in Salem (Mass. Bay Colony). And, there was a Peter YOUNG of Salem. ...Does anyone know if Othniel YOUNG in 1700's RI was descended from one of them? Betty (near Lowell, MA, USA) P.S. As my previous postings, I am also looking to find out if Abner and Clara (DEXTER) YOUNG had any other children besides Earl YOUNG, born in Killingly, CT, in 1855. And, I'd like to know whether Earl and Mary (BITGOOD) YOUNG had any children. The last part of their lives they were living in New Haven, CT. "There are two lasting bequests we can give our children; one is roots, the other is wings." Hodding Carter, Jr.
