2. This was sent out by Mike Laws on my ROTH-D mailing list. It's worth a look. GENSEEKERS a.k.a. FAMILY GENSEEKERS is up to their fraudulent tricks again. DON'T fall for the "5 Day free trial". There have been a couple dozen unresolved complaints against them at the BBB. Victims either don't get a password to get into the GENSEEKERS' site or if they do, they find only links to free sites. GENSEEKERS has no content of their own. You will not be able to cancel within the five days (email bounces and phone goes unanswered). Friendly warning.

1. [YOUNG] Early YOUNG Families of Pennsylvania
2. Hello: Just to update all those interested in Mother Cumberland: A Harvest of Memories: Reunion 2003". The reunion is for anyone with an ancestor of ANY surname who lived in what was Cumberland Co., PA during the 1700's. Cumberland is the parent county to ovr 20 other counties, covering most of southwestern Pennsylvania. Registrations are coming in from all across the Country - we receive two today from Alaska. Here is the link for the reunion>>>>> Reunion 2003 Info It is amazing to see how the descendants of the Early Pennsylvania Families have spread across the United States. Many of you have contacted me regarding holding a get-together for your particular surname during the reunion weekend. Time has been set aside on Friday the 18th of July from 4-7pm. Any surname can hold a get-together. Several individuals have already reserved a classroom for their surname gathering. If you would like to host a surname gathering, please let me know. Being a "host" would mean the following: 1. Contact me and reserve the classroom (no charge of course). 2. Decide the time during the 4-7pm time slot you would like your gathering to be. Most people have requested a one-hour block of time, but you may request longer if you like. 3. At the gathering you would call the group to order, announce the surname being represented and allow those present to exchange data, contact information with one another, etc. At the end of the time block, ask if they want to meet again during that weekend. If so, have the group decide on a time and place. You may want to bring a steno pad or notebook paper in case people need it. That's all there is to it. The surnames that have already confirmed with me are: (variations of spellings are included within each surname). Culbertson, Quigley, Kerr, Kell(e)y, Beelman, Young, Brady. Several others are pending. So, load up the wagon, hitch up the team, and head on home to Mother Cumberland. Don't forget, bring the family and enjoy a weekend back where your ancestors lived, worked, fought & prayed. Thanks for all your help! Donna

2. Renee Bowman
3. Hello All, I'm new to the list and hoping I can finally break through this brick wall. My gr-gr-grandmother is Theresa Young. All I know is that she was born in Germany in 1831 married Carl Bernard Yott around 1856-57, don't know where, and settled in Oneida county, NY. She died in 1891 and his buried at St. Joseph's Cemetery in Utica, NY. I have contacted the church and cemetery and they don't have anything on her except her name and death date. They had 8 children. Does anyone have this in their database or sounds familar? Theresa may have been spelled Teresa, Tressa, etc. Thank you, Renee in Florida

1. [YOUNG] Stephen Youngs - Fredericksburgh, Lennox, ON
2. Charon Jensen
3. I'm looking for anyone with connections to the line listed below. Stephen's ethnic origin is Scottish and Anne I believe is German. Would like to connect with any descendents. Charon Young Jensen Stephen Youngs (b.est 1769) General Notes: The Young name has been found in many records both with an "S" and without. For my records, I've left the spelling with an "S" Stephen was a U.E. and was granted 200 acres in Fredericksburgh, Lennox Co, ON. One record found stated that he was in the VT 1800 census, but I find this a little odd because he was at home making babies. The children's date of births was obtain from the Weslyn Methodist records. Another record I found stated that Stephen had come up to ON from NY at the time of the war. Would be very interested if someone has a book on the early history of Fredericksburgh. Stephen married Anne. They had 11 children: Daniel, Richard, John, Elijah, George, William Dougal, Peter, Stephen, Elizabeth, Peter, and David. Daniel Youngs (1) was christened on November 1, 1789 in Fredericksburg, Lennox Co, ON, CAN (1). Daniel married Jennet (1). They had one child: Fanetta. Fanetta Youngs (1) was christened on December 20, 1812 in Fredericksburg, Lennox Co, ON, CAN (1). Richard Youngs was christened on November 1, 1789 in Fredericksburg, Lennox Co, ON, CAN, died on January 17, 1868 in Fredericksburg, Lennox Co, ON, CAN, at age 78, and was buried in St. Paul's Anglican Church, Fredericksburg, Lennox Co, ON, CAN. Richard married (name unknown). John Youngs (1) was christened on July 24, 1791 in Fredericksburg, Lennox Co, ON, CAN (1). John married Mary Young (1) on September 28, 1813 in Fredericksburg, Lennox Co, ON, CAN (1). Marriage Notes: This marriage was listed twice with the identical month and day, but the years were 1813 and 1818. Elijah Youngs (2) was born in 1793 in Fredericksburg, Lennox Co, ON, CAN,(3) was christened on September 1, 1793 in Fredericksburg, Lennox Co, ON, CAN,(4) died on June 11, 1878 in Fredericksburg, Lennox Co, ON, CAN, at age 85, and was buried in St. Paul's Anglican Church, Fredericksburg, Lennox Co, ON, CAN. Noted events in his life were: * He appeared on the Canadian census in 1851 in Fredericksburg, Lennox Co, ON, CAN. * He appeared on the Canadian census in 1871 in Fredericksburg, Lennox Co, ON, CAN. Elijah married Charity Ann (3, 4). They had four children: Stephen, Hannah, Catherine, and Sylvester. Stephen Youngs (5) was born about 1825 in Fredericksburg, Lennox Co, ON, CAN,(6, 7) died on January 1, 1897 in Watertown, Jefferson Co, NY, USA, about age 72,(6) and was buried in Three Mile Bay Cemetery, Lyme, Jefferson Co, NY, USA (6). The cause of his death was passive congestion of Brain (old age). General Notes: Stephen's death certificate indicates that he was married, not widowed, at the time of his death. This coincides with the information on James' obituary that stated his mother was alive at the time of his death in 1904. Noted events in his life were: * He appeared on the Canadian census in 1851 in Fredericksburg, Lennox Co, ON, CAN. * He worked as a Farmer in 1851 in Fredericksburg, Lennox Co, ON, CAN. * He worked as a Laborer in 1881 in Hallowell, Prince Edward, Ontario, CAN. * He was Weslyan Methodist in 1881 in Hallowell, Prince Edward, Ontario, CAN. 1. [YOUNG] YOUNG Line .. John down to Winthrop .. Eastham, MA to Scituate, RI, to Killingly, CT
2. BBFFRRPP
3. Hello, Through a round-a-bout way, I have obtained a Xerox copy of a home-made "family-history booklet" on a YOUNG family. The "line" written about goes: John YOUNG to Joseph YOUNG to James YOUNG to David YOUNG to Othaniel YOUNG to Israel YOUNG to Jonathan YOUNG to Abner Seth YOUNG to Earle Austin YOUNG to Winthrop Abner YOUNG (the author of the booklet). This line went from Eastham and Orleans, MA, to Providence and Smithfield, RI, to Scituate, RI, to Killingly, CT, to West Haven, CT. The author, Winthrop YOUNG, stated that there was a lot of mis-information on the YOUNG line described above. I have not read the document yet, but it looks like he spent many years doing the research. Winthrop died in 1997. He did list the current family members, but not their current locations. ...My research involves a DEXTER family of Killingly, CT. After 3 years of searching, I have finally found out which John DEXTER I was looking for. He was the one born in 1833 and the son of Marvin and Mary (ALLEN) DEXTER of Killingly, CT. Marvin and Mary only had one other child, Abby DEXTER, b1831, who married Martin CROSBY. John DEXTER married Mary Anna CLARK probably in 1855. Mary "Molly" had been born in ~1837 in Westport, MA. I believe they lived most of their married life in Killingly, CT. It has taken me a long time to find out if they had children. Just this winter I found out that they had a daughter, Clara Allen DEXTER, in 1857 in Killingly, CT. They had two other daughters who died young (Mazina at Age 2, and Evangelina at Age 14). I believe that Clara DEXTER married Abner YOUNG in 1877 in Killingly, CT. They had a daughter, Bertha, who died before Age 2. They had a son, Earle YOUNG, in 1882. Earle YOUNG married Mary BITGOOD around 1905. They had four children and moved to West Haven, CT. There is a major mystery involved with this family. Around 1889, John and Mary DEXTER left their home in Killingly, CT, to move to Melrose, MA. In 1892, while in their 50's, they adopted a baby girl. ... Winthrop YOUNG, their great-grandson, wrote his "family history" in the 1980's, and there was absolutely NO mention of this Adopted daughter. At the adoption, the baby, who had just turned 3, was re-named to Mary Anna Clark DEXTER. Her older sister (by way of Adoption), Mrs. Clara YOUNG, was over 30 years older than she was. From "family stories" it is believed that this extended YOUNG family knew about and visited the little girl. Unfortunately, in 1899, Mrs. DEXTER died, and Mr. DEXTER was sent to live in Tewksbury State Hospital, MA. So, at Age 11, young Mary DEXTER was ..orphaned.. again. She spent the rest of her youth in "Homes" in Boston, MA. She would grow up to become my maternal grandmother. Thank you for listening. Thank you for your time. 1. [YOUNG] John Young and Henry Young, PA
2. I might have posted before but thought I'd try again. I'm looking for a John Young who I think is the father of Henry C. Young (b. 1832 in PA). Henry C., who would be my gg grandfather, died in Washington D.C. but not too long before his death he received some money from an estate of John Young in Pennsylvania. Henry C. was married first to a Nancy Brough, second to Jane Coleman. I think John Young was in or near Carlisle, Cumberland County, PA. Jodi Emond
