SOME Scots/Irish were Presbyterian. As you should well know, generalizations can be misleading and dangerous!

Do you think the book you mentioned, "British Origins of American Colonists," would help? Supposedly he came with three brothers, but I've found nothing on that, either. He first settled in Holliston, MA, and I've found no evidence of other Young's there at the time. Unless they parted ways upon their arrival ~ who knows? I did join NEGHS and plan to go in there this week; >> Sheila, Do you have any information on the descendants of Robert Young? I am looking for any link for my Allen Henry Young. Thanks Beth

He was a member of Dick Johnson's company of famous riflemen and participated in the battle of Tippecanoe. At the close of the Indian wars he settled in Kentucky near Georgetown. He was a woodsman of the Daniel Boone type, wedded to winning the wilderness with the rifle and imbued with the wanderlust of the Cavalier. He was married to Catherine Ann Lair of Cynthiana, daughter of a wealthy distiller and after a few years emigrated to Greene County, IL, and settled there in 1830. At the breaking out of the Mexican war he was again seized with the spirit of the Cavalier and entered that conflict as captain of a company of volunteers and served with distinction till the end of the war." I have not been able to connect the southern IL Youngs with the ones that followed the path of Brigham Young across the northern part of the state. Most of these lines came here thru VA, KY and TN. Some of our allied lines came thru Ohio directly here. I was in the big library in Salt Lake a few years ago and the people there were quite interested in this line also. We did not find a connection then. J. Ray

Pat Wingate - My great grandmother was Nancy Catherine Young, born 10-26-1867, in Killeen, Texas and died at young age in 1907. She married my great grandfather, William Jefferson Davis Bradford. Nancy's parents were Thomas Therron Young and Emily Elizabeth Moorehead. Thomas Therron's parents were Robert Young and Nancy Catherine Gamble, which I believe were from Georgia. Please feel free to e-mail me at [email protected] Nancy DeLong

Did any of them have a David Young who relocated to eastern Iowa i.e. Harrison County, in conjunction with the movement of the Mormons to that area of the state? Hi Linda, Have you possibly run across a good online resource that has a map of the former counties of TN? I believe some were formed from NC, some from VA, and it's all very confusing, like you said. Thanks, Laurie
You got the NC and TN thing right. I have been looking at that possibility for some time. With the migration pattern that is given in the pension application that seems remote though. Thanks J. Ray Young
There are several lines of Young in Marion, Clinton,Wayne and Clay counties in south central IL. None of the names that you gave are in my line but if you can get the line a little bit south you might find some help. Many of them were here before 1850. J. Ray Young
