YOUNGsters, in response to several requests, I am asking that we restrict list activity to YOUNG related genealogy stuff. I get about 300-500 emails a day from many different lists. So I understand the concerns of those who tire of sorting through messages unrelated to the list topic. To refresh your memory about things that are improper things for this list: no internet hoaxes, (I.e. dying kids who want to receive a zillion emails), virus alerts, prayer requests, flaming, name calling, threats, chain emails, or lost dogs/children/husbands. No apologies or mia culpas are necessary. Lets just keep to the proper subject matter. Rod the list owner/janitor/sargent-at-arms

Ray, Texarcana Ark is not in the Ozarks! Its on the southern tip of the state. But they do speak the same, sorta. BTW up thar in the Ozarks is mostly Illinois people now. Has been for 20 yrs or so. The ones we knew were escaping Chicago to raise their kids. I can't count the number we met over several summers we spent time up there. I'm 'down-here' in LA. LOL Carleen

One of my Moms favorites has always been "lick your calf". These sayings were so commonly used as I grew up, I just didn't think about them being so old. I guess the fun part now is throwing them in now and then in conversations that I have with people who are from the city. And, having lived in the city for the last 7 & 1/2 years, it helps me to not forget my country roots and home. I have stressed so much to my children to not forget or loose theirs. It can restore a familiar peace to your soul. Bev Clark El Paso, Texas [email protected] wrote: > Hey Georgia granny- This is the Texas granny. Looks like you are > gonna have to lick your calf over. Need any clues on parents and siblings of Franklin Young b 1802 in GA; died 1873 probably in Lincoln Co MS. He married (1) Margret Williams and (2) Elizabeth Cain Byrd, both in Pike or Franklin Co MS. Franklin's children with Margret were Wiley Anderson, Martha who married Jarvis Seale; James; Susannah who married Edward Gatlin Jr; Elizabeth who married William Thompson; Lorinda who married B T Round; Belzora; Samuel Franklin who married Octavia H Montgomery and Margaret L Young who married B L Clark. Susannah & Edward Gatlin Jr moved to Jackson Parish LA. Samuel Franklin moved his family to Rapides Parish LA. Martha probably died in Pike Co AR where she traveled with her daughter in the late 1800s after Jarvis was killed at Battle of Shiloh. Wiley and his wife Mary Ann helped the relatives and neighbors move their slaves to the Brazos River of TX after the Trans MS Dept said they would allow slaves to be kept in TX after the War was over. Many got sick with malaria on the trip & Wiley was one who died on the Brazos. Some of them started back to MS but stopped in LA. Thanks for any clues. Linda McCain Stansell
Sorry about that Jim. I apologize. I'm through. I guess us Texans are just a different breed of folks. You know, all work and no play makes Jack a dull boy. I apologize to Rod also. It was fun though. :) The other granny

Hi J. Ray From South America to the big inch in Canada, The Yukon and about 40 US States. Lots of genealogy in and around Deleware and Maryland. Quite a lot of my family genealogy around the Dutch in Pennyslvania. Texas grany.
Hi Texas granny Which oil field are you talking about. I grew up in the one at Salem IL. An english teacher that I had in college who, was an experienced linquist, insisted that I was from the Ozarks. Somewhere around Texarcana. I guess I picked up several expressions that we are talking from the people from AR and OK that came here to work during the depression. I know what you mean about some of the expressions that are not printable. :-) J. Ray Young
