    3. I find Twitter very useful for announcements from a range of organisations - I heard about this weekend's free access to Ancestry's 1940 US census through an announcement from Ancestry on Twitter. I have seen hardly any of the ‘going out for a walk with the dog’ type message. I can't see it replacing the YORKSGEN mailing list but will see how it goes. We now have a Twitter account for Yorksgen. Please follow us @yorksgen for interactive discussion and bulletins. Please note, we will NOT follow anyone who takes the trouble to tell us that it’s ‘time for bed’ or ‘going out for a walk with the dog’ – we don’t need to know all that – Join the conversation! Twitter has a poor reputation in some places, however, if used sensibly, it can be very, very useful. We can keep up to date with events, as they happen, and discuss things that have happened in the recent past or further back in history.
