Just recently I came into possession of a picture of the Hawnby Shelter taken in 1906. I was wondering if anyone knows anything about the Hawnby shelter of may even have the pic with some names on back. There is a large group of people in the picture as if there had just been an opening of the shelter or some such thing. Would appreciate anything anyone knows of this. Hello Linda, Nice to hear from you. It has been a long time! I saw Justine last month - still talking about Hawnby ancestors! The Ryedale Family History Group would be interested to see that photograph. We could publish a copy of it in our quarterly journal, the "Ryedale Roots" so that all of our members can see it.
