Marg, Having looked at the 1861 census, it looks to me that John is 50 not 30. [John Stead death reg Wakefield Mar Q 1869 aged 58] John is on 1841 census, Wakefield aged 30, bookkeeper with Jane aged 30 and Joe Waterworth (8) and Thos Waterworth (5). Could these be children from Jane's previous marriage? Jane Waterworth married John Stead 21 Mar 1835 All Saints Wakefield by Licence Lin In 1861 I find John, 30. a bookkeeper, and Harriet living at Bond Street, Wakefield with their son John, 2. quest@rootsweb.com with the word 'unsubscribe' without the quotes in the subject and the body of the message > ..... > Ancestors in Yorkshire?http://www.genuki.org.uk/big/eng/YKS/index.html; > www.ryedalefamilyhistory.org;www.wharfedalefhg.org.uk; > www.yorkshireparishregisters.com;www.yorkshireroots.org.uk; > > ------------------------------- > To unsubscribe from the list, please send an email toYORKSGEN-request@rootsweb.com with the word 'unsubscribe' without the quotes in the subject and the body of the message > >
Lin, I had another look at the 1861 census and I believe you are right that John is 50. That makes a big difference. I also found the marriage of John and Jane Waterworth in 1835. This gives me more to search as I have come across another possible marriage for John in 1851 to Mary Ann Phillips. John's father was Thomas, a tailor, so it's worth following. Thank you Lin. I appreciate you time.
