    1. Re: [YORKSGEN] Gale Newspapers - search question
    2. Hello Do you need to be physically at an approved library to access the Gale collection or can it be done from home using a standard UK student library card? Thanks Niki In a message dated 14/08/2012 14:02:17 GMT Daylight Time, dml5481@hotmail.com writes: Roy and others Using your Lancashire library card access the newspaper database as you usually do. At the very top of the page there is a blue bar with "Preferences" "Change Databases" "Log Out" Click on " Change Databases". You will now see at the top Newsvault (with 17th and 18th century Burney Collection and The Time Digital Archive underneath). Click on Newsvault which brings up the new search platform which you can manipulate to your heart's content. For some strange reason inputting "Stockdill" only comes up with 3 hits. But if you do an Advanced Search putting Stockdill + Entire Document there are 85 hits. Lin

    3. Hi Niki It will depend upon the access your County library subscribes to if using a standard library membership number However as a student you may have access to other databases via places of learning (ie are you at a College or University?) Most Counties have some sort of subscription to online Newspapers, some subscribe to more than others, most if not all will be accessible online from home 24/7 Google XXXXXXX County Library online resources (where XXXXXXX = your County) Or email your Library service Nivard Ovington in Cornwall (UK) On 17/08/2012 10:34, NikiOsborne@aol.com wrote: > > Hello > > Do you need to be physically at an approved library to access the Gale > collection or can it be done from home using a standard UK student library > card? > > Thanks > > Niki
