Hi again Lin, I really am going to bed in a few minutes. But before I go, I`ve just checked on the LDS site and although I can`t see the full information the Von Halle family are living in Manningham during 1891 where John Thompson is also. Which seems to cement the 2 together. Who is he? That`s a good question. His name is mentioned on a gold watch presented to him by the Von Halle family for his services to the family. This was presented to him in 1910, presumably when his services were no long required. My dad passed this watch onto me a few years ago, and just recently my mam, who knows I`m a right nosey beggar, asked me if I`d managed to learn anything about the man. So I`m embarking on a crusade to put a bit of a story together for her. I`d assumed John Thompson had retired when he`d been given the watch, but Nivard came up the fact that Moritz had died in 1910. This would make sense, maybe the business was sold or passed over to someone else in the family. I`d realised he wasn`t with the family in 1911 and havn`t found him yet, still looking, but no more tonight. I don`t know if this makes sense to you, hope so. But I`m really off to bed now. Thank you Lin, and everyone else for their help today. Good Night. George. >________________________________ > From: Lin <dml5481@hotmail.com> >To: George Carter <gacarter@btinternet.com>; YORKSGEN-L@rootsweb.com >Sent: Sunday, 19 August 2012, 23:11 >Subject: Re: [YORKSGEN] John Thompson & Von Halle family in Bradford > >George > >There is no sign of a John THOMPSON with the family in 1911. > >Frances, widow and her daughter Nelly are enumerated twice - once as >visitors in St Pancras London and secondly in Bradford with the rest of >her family. > >Perhaps if you can give us more information regarding this elusive John >we might be able to find him.
