Can anyone advise me about the gale newspaper collection web site which I access using my kirklees library card. I've been using this for quite a while, but when I log into the site now I only get the "NewsVault" option and not the newspaper search where you can select a chosen paper. Is anyone else having problems with the site ? Regards Steve Whitwam Golcar, Huddersfield http://www.whitwam.co.uk The web site for those tracing their ancestors from the Colne Valley, Huddersfield
Not sure if this will help, but I have just accessed the Gale collection through Lancashire Libraries online. There were originally two options - the Burney Collection and Times Digital Archive. There is now a third - Newsvault - a new search platform. You can select by collection or by chosen paper using the Advanced Search option. However, I am not getting, as far as I can see, the "NewsVault" option that you and another poster seem to be getting! Where is that, precisely? I just logged in a couple of minutes ago, entered "Stockdill" and got 34 hits, as I have done on previous occasions. Maybe I shouldn't admit this (!) but I access the Gale site via Lancashire County Library Services. Hi Steve The same thing happened to me using the Cornwall Library service to access the 19th Century Newspapers , like you all I got was Newsvault and the Times, whereas I usually have the 19th Century Papers as well Luckily as I use the 19th Century papers more than anything else I had bookmarked them and that still worked for me I emailed our library service who had already noticed and asked Cengage last week, they replied to say that Cengage say there is a fault and the correct link should be reinstated at some point Nivard Ovington in Cornwall (UK) On 13/08/2012 19:24, steve whitwam wrote: > Can anyone advise me about the gale newspaper collection web site which I access using my kirklees library card. > > I've been using this for quite a while, but when I log into the site now I only get the "NewsVault" option and not the newspaper search where you can select a chosen paper. > > Is anyone else having problems with the site ? > > Regards > > Steve Whitwam > Golcar, Huddersfield
