With the help of Nivard, Ann, Maureen & Jean, I think I`ve found a pairing of John Thompson and a Von Halle family who were living in Eaton Bradford in 1901. The John Thompson was a Coachman Groom.(Thanks Maureen for that). The only thing that has me wondering about the findings is that on todays, map It`s about 3 miles by road from Park Drive, where the Von Halle family were living and Canary Street, where John Thompson was living. I expected to find him a bit nearer than that. Has anyone any experience of servants living away from the home of the employer in the 19th and early 20th century?. I know today it wouldn`t take long to bob from one address to the other, but it seems a bit far in the time before the motor car. I expected him to be close to hand. There is a possibility that the streets on todays map don`t correspond where they were in 1901 has anyone any local knowledge? Has anyone any thoughts on this. Thanks for any help. George.

George There is no sign of a John THOMPSON with the family in 1911. Frances, widow and her daughter Nelly are enumerated twice - once as visitors in St Pancras London and secondly in Bradford with the rest of her family. Perhaps if you can give us more information regarding this elusive John we might be able to find him. When and where was he born? Lin PLEASE REMOVE NAMES & email ADDRESSES BEFORE FORWARDING.
