    3. Hi List Just some general info on this theme of Yorkshire 2013. For the un-initiated the idea is that the accommodation is a base which is why Halifax Court used to fit the bill so well. Everybody's research is unique and at different stages, you only have to listen in on one of Colin's impromptu tutorials to realise this. You do your own thing, if someone's going to the same place there's lifts on offer for a share of the cost. Got a brick wall there's help on tap. There's even a chance that Sue will find her Mary! Originally there was a programme of events but as numbers lowered over the years that became impractical so now these are run as an external lecture day. Usually those staying for the full two weeks like to lighten their work load with a little playtime - fish and chips at Whitby etc. You don't even have to stay at the accommodation, if you're staying somewhere else you can come and visit, join in the suppers, day trips or just a cup of tea at supper time. Halifax Court has had a re-fit - wrong! It had a tart up. The shower was much improved, it now has internal doors but 1 shower and 2 loos for a house of 11 or 12 people is a bit much, but then again this accommodation is for students ( does that make it better or worse I wonder). The trouble is the regulars are getting older and the stairs are very steep and we were so spoiled last year with Goodricke College. Let's go to Goodricke College I hear people say - no they don't want us to have that. To be honest we came away with the distinct impression that the University didn't really care if we returned or not. I know it's almost a full year away but already there's a lot of interest and Janice hasn't even seen the accommodation yet so once she has be prepared to act quickly. Cheers Lynn A oldie Yorkshire lass in the West Midlands
