Asking others who have paid out of their own pockets to buy subscriptions to Ancestry, Findmypast and other data providers is, in my opinion, like begging for cups of tea or asking strangers for small change at railway stations. Surely we do not do that in this great hobby of ours? We pay our way and those who want to cllimb on our backs, muscle in and get something for nothing by using our subscriptions are cheap and despicable. Would you ask a friend to lend you his expensive camera to take pictures on your holiday?
