I am trying to work out which regiment my Uncle, Leslie Davey served in during WW2. Although he lived almost all of his life in Spofforth (between Harrogate & Wetherby), I remember my Aunt (his wife) saying that he was called up to a London regiment as he was working in London at the time. I have a photo which shows a cap badge, I have found a lot of sites with cap badges (mostly wanting to sell them) but I haven’t found anything similar. I have put the photo on some webspace at http://www.argarrison.plus.com/ . I have sent for his birth certificate so will know his date of birth, I think that he was called up in 1939 and served in North Africa and through Italy, there is also a story that he was demobbed in Italy and had to make his own way home but I don’t know how true that is. With so little to go on am I likely to be able to find any more information? I now have my Aunts engagement ring and the receipt from Leech's Jewellers in Beulah Street Harrogate dated November 1939 - cost £9, they were married in November 1945.
