    3. I am trying to sort out various Robinsons in north east Cleveland and have a clutch of wills from the Loftus/Lofthouse area where my ancestor Robert Robinson married in 1714 (from his gravestone at Skelton he would have been born around 1687). At his marriage in 1714 he was said to be "de Lofthouse" but his wife was from Skelton. The clutch of wills belong to people with known family forenames (John, Thomas and Robert). They are from the first 30 years of the 1700s and one will of a Robert Robinson who died in 1723 mentions two sons, Robert and Francis. "My Robert" who married in 1714 had sons John, Robert, Francis and Thomas (in order) so I am drawn to this particular line because of the Francis connection. Apart from land at Loftus the 1722 will of Robert senior mentions land at Barnby, Lythe which may have come from the wife's (Margaret?) side of the family as she was the first to inherit. I have also found records relating to a Francis Robinson who was the schoolteacher at Lythe who died in 1765, although his will gives no clues to a connection with "my Robert". Sorry if this sounds a bit complicated! My query is whether there would be any records for schoolteachers at that time - i.e. did they need any formal qualifications (other than being able to read and write) and would there be any records/archives that might give further information on him. One further query - I have just noticed that Robert's 1714 marriage licence was sealed and delivered in the presence of a John Robinson (not the bondsman), but I am assuming this John could have been a cousin and not his father??
