I have been following the thread about Guy Fawkes and had a look at the York Freemen's Rolls. There were Freemen with the name of Fawkes, no other spelling. The earliest was Willemus Fawkes in 1400 and others going through to 1669 At present I have no more information on them, but I may have later in the year.
