    3. So he is, with his complete family including Sarah who is my principal interest. I've been using the Find My Past free weekend to search for her, and I think the problem has been my misunderstanding of how the search facility on the home page works. Alongside boxes for the person's name and birth year, is a location box. I now believe this links to the location the person was living at the time the record was made, rather that the location of the birth. So, a search for Ezra Wilson born 1858, location East Ardsley, Yorkshire didn't find and obvious matches in the 1871 Census because the family wasn't in East Ardsley in 1871 etc. but in Lanarkshire! Or, as written in "The Hitch Hiker's Guide to the Galaxy" "I checked it very thoroughly," said the computer, "and that quite definitely is the answer. I think the problem, to be quite honest with you, is that you've never actually known what the question is." "But it was the Great Question! The Ultimate Question of Life, the Universe and Everything," howled Loonquawl. "Yes," said Deep Thought with the air of one who suffers fools gladly, "but what actually is it?" A slow stupefied silence crept over the men as they stared at the computer and then at each other. "Well, you know, it's just Everything . Everything ..." offered Phouchg weakly. "Exactly!" said Deep Thought. "So once you know what the question actually is, you'll know what the answer means." -----Original Message----- From: Christine Benson [mailto:[email protected]] Sent: 09 November 2014 23:26 To: Nick; [email protected] Subject: Re: [YORKSGEN] WILSON - Harding Beck Hi Nick, Ezra is in the Glasgow area from 1871 to 1901 and then in Bradford in 1911 as an inmate of what calls itself a lodging house. I can send you more details if you can't find him but Ezra is a good name to search on, unlike James. I also have a probable fit for James Wilson in the 1851 census in Keighley, but I'll get the Birth Certificate of his daughter, Sarah, and then his Marriage Certificate (probably to Mary GOTT of Heaton), to check. Unfortunately, he and his son, Ezra, seem to have disappeared from the 1871 and later censuses. His wife's birthplace was "Heaton Syke" (Bradford), and his two children were born in East Ardsley.
