Hi Pauline, The York Libraries project 'Imagine York' has over 6,000 images of York which are searchable. Although the technology that made this archive of images several years ago is now dated, the system still works very well. It is certainly worth searching for the areas you are interested in. Explore York is the new site for York Libraries and Archives, however, I googled Imagine York and found it here: https://cyc.sdp.sirsidynix.net.uk/client/en_GB/yorkimages Here you have the opportunity to add to the descriptions of the images, making it a very, very valuable archive.
