Hi all I'm going through the will of Thomas Blyth, Innholder, of Easingwold written in 1696. There is an inventory from 18th September 1700 with a list of who Thomas Blyth owed money to. There isn't much information against each name ('for 2 days work' etc.) but it does fix the following people there at the time. If anyone is researching these names, here they are: Henry KITCHINGMAN, Thomas HUNTER, John LINSLEY, Mark SMITHSON, John HATTON, Thomas HICKOCKS, Robt FOUNTAINE, Josh INGS(?), John, Geo & Wm GIBSON, Wm CUNDALL, John CLOUGH, Mr WILSON of Thirsk, Tho POSKETT, Wm BLAND, John HOLDSTOCK, Leonard ROCKHILL(?), Ralph GOODRICK, Francis COATES The will of 1696 was witnessed by Chr DRIFFEILD (sic), Tho CUNDALL, Jona PINCKNEY Probate dealt with on 29th July 1701. Faith BLYTH and Robt HAYES both signed with a mark. If anyone has copies of 17th and 18th century wills for this area of Yorkshire mentioning the name BLYTH, I'd be pleased to hear from them. Thomas Blyth appears to have had an inn called 'The Lion' in Easingwold. I haven't been able to find out anything about it and it is not there now. Can anybody advise? Regards Geoff Blyth
