Morning all. At Lin's request I am posting a fairly new brick wall - actaally at the moment it's more of very high hurdle...... I have a Francis MONKMAN marrying an Ann DICKINSON in the parish of Routh (East Yorks) on19 April 1788. The entry states Francis was "of Bridlington" and Ann "of this parish.I've ordered the Routh film in BTs in and so far have been unable to find either baptism entry though I've made great progress with children, marriages, burials etc.I know Francis died in Hull (Sculcoates 2nd q 1860) but haven't got a death/burial for Ann yet. Is anyone is research either of the above names It'd be great to hear from you. Have a great day.ttfnTrishEx Hull lass on central coast of NSW.

Trish Don't forget that on a marriage certificate the parish referred to is where they are living at the time and not an indication of their place of birth. The marriage transcript (on Ancestry) gives his place of residence as Wilsthorpe (which is near Bridlington) and gives his birth year as 1762. I cannot find him on any census. The only Francis born Routh that I can find is his son Francis born 1791 (baptism on LDS) , who was living Sculcoates in 1851 and I think that the 1860 death that of Francis, the son. You probably know that Family Search has six baptisms at Routh with Francis as father between 1791 and 1802. There is also one with a Francis as father for William, baptised 1797 at Bridlington which does give a mother's name, maybe he was married before? If you have access to Find my past they have entry for a Francis MONKMAN died 1799 Bridlington in the York Probate Index with a link for you to order a copy (have no idea what you get for this payment). There is a third quarter 1837 death index record for an Ann MONKMAN at Bridlington which may his widow.
