    3. Hi Andy If he served but not overseas he would not be eligible for medals, and his service record could be one of the two thirds lost in WW2 One avenue you might want to check, if you know where he lived in 1918, see if there is a surviving absent voters list If listed it would give his regt, number and rank Although it is not always the case, as a sparky he may have been conscripted to the Royal Engineers Or he may have been in a reserved occupation as you suggest Not everyone who was of an eligible age was actually called up Nivard Ovington in Cornwall (UK) On 05/02/2015 09:32, Andy Micklethwaite via wrote: > This isn't the usual "brickwall". Whilst there are records for one or mores Harrys, none seem appropriate as there are a number of other Harrys in West and South Yorkshire, not to mention Henrys and Harolds. His occupation in 1907 (marriage), 1911 (census) and 1916 (when my father was born) is electrician. Perhaps the mill where he worked was producing fabric for the army? Perhaps he wasn't fit/well enough for the army? > > Any advice appreciated. TIA Andy.
