    3. My Family Historian tree is on my computer. That is where all my details are kept. I download all images to my computer, or more correctly One Drive, and copy them to my software tree under the Project name. The Family Historian software allows one to set up a project file where all images are copied into this file and appear on the tree. The tree I have on Ancestry is a very old tree which suits me fine to get contacts from others searching the same name. Because my Project file is stored on One Drive it means I can access it via my desktop or laptop. I am not bothered about the end of FTM as it is only there to get links to other peoples trees via that tree. It is always possible that another company may take over FTM. Whether that happens or not only time will tell. We all have our way of doing things and developed that over the years. 3. Some very interesting comments from Ancestry, but lots of ifs and maybes. The comments about there being no rush and plenty of time do not take into account a financial consideration. To use the tree facility online a subscription is needed. Both my husband and myself use FTM and link trees to Ancestry, that is we both have our own accounts and trees. So 2 lots of software and 2 subscriptions from one house. When choosing to use FTM, one of the considerations was the vast amount of records on Ancestry, linking these images to our trees and the Sync facility. My husbands subscription is due at the end of January, so if he chooses to renew he will have the benefit of the Sync for 11 months. My subscription runs out in July, if I choose to renew I will have the benefit of the Sync for 5 months, but I will still have to pay the same amount as my husband for less benefits. Plus the online version has far fewer features than the desktop version. I don't see Ancestry reducing their subscriptions in line with reducing their facilities. Which is at present prices £240 for us.
