Basically, what you are suggesting does not work. We have 2 lots of software and 2 subscriptions and 2 very different lines of research, because we had these before we met. Putting the trees on one laptop does not mean that when you sync they all sync, and you cannot sync 2 trees into the same account at the same time. I work one way, keeping my images etc in marked folders my husband works another way. I realise there was no extra charge for sync, but it was a consideration when taking out a subscription and buying FTM. It is not the reports charts etc, that do not appear on the online version, it is the ability to search on many parameters, make multiple changes for instance to place names and other features. Have you considered merging the two trees unless you want to keep your two family details separate. Then we would get in a real mess trying to work on one tree from 2 laptops at the same time, and I prefer to work my own way. They will be kept separate.
