Hi Nivard, Thank you for answering. No, I don't know what part of Ireland, unfortunately, but I'm pretty sure it's not Northern Ireland. They were Catholic, if that helps to narrow it down some. Kennedy is a pretty common name, although I don't know about Madden. Any suggestions? There were two Catherine Kennedys who emigrated in 1864 but I'm not sure either one was she. One was age 6 who arrived in New York on 27 May 1864 on the Harvest Queen. The other was age 9 who arrived on 4 June 1864 on the Kangaroo. Both ships sailed from Liverpool with Ireland given as the place of origin (although I don't know if that refers to the passenger or the ship). Which brings up another question. Did the Irish always have to go to Liverpool to seek passage? I thought a lot of them left from Cork. P.S.
