I know this isn't a Yorkshire question but wonder if anyone is familiar with or has any info about the above subject. I found my grandmother's sister in Walton House Municipal Hostel in the 1939 Register. She was a single 56 year old woman who is recorded as a Grocery shop assistant. Would this be a place she may stay for a long period or was it temporary. Thanks for any info. I have checked on line but can't find much about it.
