    3. Hello DellasThere is a baptism at Horsforth on 22 August 1824 of James Child, son of Benjamin and Dinah, Horsforth, Clothier.Ancestry have this transcribed as Jane, but it is clearly James. The family is in the 1841 census at HO107/1313-5-12: Benjamin 50, Dinah, 50, Samuel 25, Sarah 20, Benjamin 15, James 15, Maria 13, William 9, Eliza 10 months (bear in mind that the ages of adults were rounded down to the nearest 5 years in this census). Hope this helps.RegardsMike Binns > To: YORKSGEN@rootsweb.com > Date: Fri, 12 Feb 2016 16:23:55 +1100 > Subject: [YORKSGEN] CHILD James > From: yorksgen@rootsweb.com > > Hi > > > > Looking for any information on James Child b 1823/24 in Horsforth, married > in Australia 1868 > > All help appreciated > > Thanks > > Dellas > > NSW > Aust. > > > ------------------------------- > To unsubscribe from the list, please send an email to YORKSGEN-request@rootsweb.com with the word 'unsubscribe' without the quotes in the subject and the body of the message

    3. Hello Peter, I am also on the hunt for ATKINSON. I have John ATKINSON b. Yorkshire 1781, Married ? Daughter Frances b. 1801 Yorkshire, d. 1882.. Frances married John LAMBERT (1796-1873) on February 03, 1817 in Parish of Bradford. Any connection? Linda (Lambert) Hamid Roseville, CA email: sweeth2o1@gmail.com Web: www.sweeth2o.us Today's Topics: 1. Samuel Atkinson (Peter Atkinson) ---------------------------------------------------------------------- Hello everyone, I'm again back on the trail to find the birth/baptism (and possibly parents) of SAMUEL ATKINSON. and again starting from scratch. The LDS have entries for:- 1. Gilderstone, Yorkshire born 11/4/1796 bapt. 15/5/1796 parents James and Susannah, and also another entry showing bapt. 15/5/1797. Could this be an error or did the first Samuel die and another child was born, and are they the same parents? 2. Holy Trinity, Hull (no first names) Atkinson born 1796 bapt. 1808 father Atkinson. Lin provided me with this entry quite a while ago but I have been unable to follow it up, There is also an entry showing born 1797. Could this also be an error? Any help would be appreciated. Peter

    3. Hi, Colin, I did a quick look on archive.com, British History Online, and Google for Bernard's survey 1577, and nothing modern turned up.  All the mentions were in books published in the 1800's, the only reference being to the Dodsworth manuscript collection in the Bodleian, or quoting sources from the 1800's who quoted the manuscript.  There is a published catalogue of the Dodsworth collection -- go to https://books.google.ca/books?id=XyZDAAAAcAAJ&dq=bernard%27s+survey+pontefract+1577&source=gbs_navlinks_s, then see on published page 299 of the Appendix item XXXIV.  And on page 290 see Mr Hunter's Report on the Dodsworth Manuscripts. If you contacted the Bodleian Library, they might be able to tell you if anyone has obtained permission to transcribe/reproduce and publish the survey. . . regards,Jean

    3. Hi Nivard, Thank you for answering. No, I don't know what part of Ireland, unfortunately, but I'm pretty sure it's not Northern Ireland. They were Catholic, if that helps to narrow it down some. Kennedy is a pretty common name, although I don't know about Madden. Any suggestions? There were two Catherine Kennedys who emigrated in 1864 but I'm not sure either one was she. One was age 6 who arrived in New York on 27 May 1864 on the Harvest Queen. The other was age 9 who arrived on 4 June 1864 on the Kangaroo. Both ships sailed from Liverpool with Ireland given as the place of origin (although I don't know if that refers to the passenger or the ship). Which brings up another question. Did the Irish always have to go to Liverpool to seek passage? I thought a lot of them left from Cork. P.S. (I noticed I mistyped her name in the subject line, hitting the "r" instead of the "t" when I typed her name). Thank you for your help.
