    1. Re: [YORKSGEN] Recording on Family Tree Maker
    2. Lin via
    3. Hi Brian There is a facility in FTM to record alternative names. Go to Facts page and then click on the blue cross to 'add fact'. There is then the option of 'Also Known As' Once you've added this extra name got to Tools, Options, Names/Dates/Places and tick the option 'Use AKA if available' as an additional entry. Both names will now show in the index. This works just as well for forenames eg a person born Margaret but who was known all her life as Peggy. 3. That's the name I was given. It was written down for me by Harold's sister, so I have written it exactly as she did. I think it was a local band to the Wath area, but I'm not sure! 3. I checked the 1939 Register and there was this "possible" entry:- 25 Oak Lea Ave. W.Melton.Wath upon Dearne. W. Riding Yks. Harold R.SMITH bn 29 July 1897 Wath upon Dearne ( Marr) General Labourer-Urban District Council. Sarah A.SMITH bn 9 July 1903 Wath upon Dearne( Marr) Harold SMITH b 31 May 1921 Wath upon Dearne. Oiler & Greaser, Carriage Wagon Dept of LNE Railway Co. Single ( 1 Closed record) RG10/3746C/016/24 Letter Code KOZB Don't know if that is any help? 3. Hello All Thank you for the emails advising Yorksgen does not accept attachments....that I already knew, so the photo wasn't an attachment but was embedded in the text. But I've learned that Yorksgen obviously does not accept them either. So I have put the photo onto my website.... the link is https://secondtwentiethbattalionaif.wordpress.com/family-history/who-is-this-lady/ It's a lovely photo, about 30cm high, and I hope someone can identify and claim her!!! All the best Caroline

You may have embedded it in your email but rootsweb only takes plain text so attempts to strip out HTML & rich text Sometimes it just bounces or rejects the whole message, other times it posts the remainder in plain text Nivard Ovington in Cornwall (UK) On 17/02/2016 09:46, Caroline Gaden via wrote: > I thought I had been able to embed it within the text > Never mind > Sorry everyone. > Cheers > Caroline --- This email has been checked for viruses by Avast antivirus software. https://www.avast.com/antivirus

I understand that George Fox may have had a hand in supporting Quakerism in that village & may even have visited. I have connections with members of the STUTT family in Owstwick & neighbouring villages, hence my query. Any information would be useful. Many thanks. Janet Peacock

    3. Hi Linda, There was one entry for Samuel in Bradford, but I think that one died 1875, so not mine. I have not found any parents or siblings so far as I just don't know where he came from. The HULL 1841 census shows ''Y'' for all the family having been born in Yorkshire. However, the Lincoln 1851 census gives the correct information where born as his wife and some of the children were born in Lincolnshire. He is noted as born in Hull, Yks. I have nothing else after 1851 as he died shortly after the census.
