    3. Hi, You don't say which version of MS Word or Windows you are using, but the message is clear enough (memory = RAM). 75MB is large for a MS word document in my experience and the fact that you could load a 130MB document before suggests that there are more programs running in RAM than before. Possible solutions are: 1. Remove programs from RAM (i.e. stop them loading on start-up) 2. Delete unwanted files from disk 3. Add more RAM 4. Change the way images are managed in Word, i.e. link them rather than embed them in document. Hope this helps. Good luck! 3. Christine The army records that you need are only on FMP to my knowledge and relate to the "British Army Service Records 1760-1915" this is classes WO96 and WO97 at TNA and are better known as the Chelsea Hospital Records. They show that he joined in 1829 and was discharged in Belfast in 1854 He joined 26 Oct 1829 24 Dec 1831 promoted to Corporal 29 Jun 1833 promoted to Sergeant 23 Apr 1834 promoted to Colour Sergeant These are his actual army service papers and consist of some 9 pages. The reason that I mentioned his death certificate is that it will tell you exactly who registered to death and were he was living at the time. I am not aware of any Army Hospitals in Yorkshire. There are none mentioned in the Victoria County history other than York itself What you found on Ancestry was "UK, Royal Hospital Chelsea Pensioner Registers of Soldiers Who Served in Canada, 1743-1882" Regards John Hanson Researcher, The Halsted Trust Website - www.halstedresearch.org.uk -----Original Message----- From: Christine Buckland [mailto:[email protected]] Sent: 10 November 2014 22:52 To: John Hanson Subject: Re: [YORKSGEN] Military history Hello John, I used Ancestry when checking my 3xgreat grandfather's records. I thought I was doing well tracing his army service, his marriage in Gibraltar and Jamaican records (which were attained by post about 5 years ago) for the birth of my 2xg grandmother but now I am stumped. 3. . . . .and written by Douglas Adams in 1979, long before we had access to personal computers, the internet and those pesky help files. How did he know that we'd get peculiar answers to questions we asked on the internet, because we didn't really know what was the right question to ask? The man was a genius. For those who aren't already fans of "The Hitch Hiker's Guide to the Galaxy", in the story it's an intergalactic encyclopaedia with "Don't Panic" written on the cover. Within the story, Deep Thought (the biggest computer in the universe) is asked for the answer to " The Ultimate Question of Life, the Universe and Everything". After months of processor time, it produces the answer - 42. Hence the dialogue below. -----Original Message----- From: Andy Micklethwaite [mailto:[email protected]] Sent: 10 November 2014 13:33 To: Nick Higton; [email protected]; 'Christine Benson'; [email protected] Subject: Re: [YORKSGEN] WILSON - Harding Beck That's the same computer used to generate topics for computer help files :-) Andy. 3. So he is, with his complete family including Sarah who is my principal interest. I've been using the Find My Past free weekend to search for her, and I think the problem has been my misunderstanding of how the search facility on the home page works. Alongside boxes for the person's name and birth year, is a location box. I now believe this links to the location the person was living at the time the record was made, rather that the location of the birth. So, a search for Ezra Wilson born 1858, location East Ardsley, Yorkshire didn't find and obvious matches in the 1871 Census because the family wasn't in East Ardsley in 1871 etc. but in Lanarkshire! Or, as written in "The Hitch Hiker's Guide to the Galaxy" "I checked it very thoroughly," said the computer, "and that quite definitely is the answer. I think the problem, to be quite honest with you, is that you've never actually known what the question is." "But it was the Great Question! The Ultimate Question of Life, the Universe and Everything," howled Loonquawl. "Yes," said Deep Thought with the air of one who suffers fools gladly, "but what actually is it?" A slow stupefied silence crept over the men as they stared at the computer and then at each other. "Well, you know, it's just Everything . Everything ..." offered Phouchg weakly. "Exactly!" said Deep Thought. "So once you know what the question actually is, you'll know what the answer means." -----Original Message----- From: Christine Benson [mailto:[email protected]] Sent: 09 November 2014 23:26 To: Nick; [email protected] Subject: Re: [YORKSGEN] WILSON - Harding Beck Hi Nick, Ezra is in the Glasgow area from 1871 to 1901 and then in Bradford in 1911 as an inmate of what calls itself a lodging house. 3. Hi Nick, Ezra is in the Glasgow area from 1871 to 1901 and then in Bradford in 1911 as an inmate of what calls itself a lodging house. I can send you more details if you can't find him but Ezra is a good name to search on, unlike James.
