Morning everyone. Many thanks go to Yvonne who came up trumps with a copy of the Victoria Prison register. Sadly it doesn't help me find this rascal but it doesn't rule him out either so I'll keep chipping away. Thanks go to Elaine, Lillian and Kathryne who also sent me links to various other documents...all of which I already had but do appreciate you making a huge effort on my behalf. I will be emailing you all personally today. Hopefully 2016 will be a good year for you all and a few brick walls might be taken down. ttfnTrishEx Hull lass on central coast of NSW.
New TV series tonight, 9.00 pm on ITV, may be of interest to those with ancestors from the Bradford area. I was rather surprised when told my great grandmother was from Egypt and then discovered this and Jericho itself were closer than I imagined. Malcolm Emmett Sent from my iPad
Hoping someone can help me Using family search website I have found the following REUBEN WINTERBURN baptized August 2 1863 Bilton with Harrogate to a Charles Winterburn and a Sarah Ann Unknown, I have Rueben married to a Jane ? possible Leak taken from free birth marriages and deaths. Dec 1883 Knaresbrough I can find Rueben in 1871 census with a Charles ( 1837) and Sarah and siblings , then in 1891 – 1901 – 1911 with his own family If possible would someone be able to locate him in 1881 census and also possibly tell me the maiden name of his mother ( I am unable to find a Charles and Sarah in 1881 either ) Using the family search website, I have found several Charles born about 1837 but nothing firmly convinces me of which family to take as Reuben's grandparents ( I lean towards a John and Sarah found in 1841 – 1851 with sons Charles and Reuben but no proof) Reuben’s son John James Winterburn born about 1884 goes on to marry Annie Elizabeth ABRAM in 1912 ( this is the line that I am following and have their marriage certificate from St. Peters which states his father as Rueben – bricklayer) and would like to confirm his mother’s maiden name and those of his grandparents I realize that I would be able to order certificates to cover my questions but Winterburn is a very common name in the Pannal, Harrogate and Knaresbrough area and if possible I would like to avoid the cost until I can narrow down the questions thanks for any help you can give Val
I have previously been in touch with many of Josephs descendants but none of their email addresses are currently working. I am descended from Arthur Martindale who was Josephs 4th son. I will be in York April 2nd - 10th 2016 on my regular visit to the archives. If anyone is related to Joseph or his son Arthur Martindale 1870-1939 and is interested in having a get together please get in touch off list. Gillian Cattell nee Wheatley

Published in The Times Colonist from Jan. 2 to Jan. 3, 2016 - Photo with Obit WILSON, Jean Sally (Armitage), R.N.- March 12, 1947 - December 30, 2015 Sally, born in Leeds, England, entered nursing and midwifery training in Edinburgh in 1969. Prior to emigrating to Montreal General Hospital in 1975, she was Night Sister at Edinburgh Royal Infirmary. She reconnected with the love of her life, Dr Ken Wilson, in 1977 in Saskatoon and was married in 1978. She was proud Mum of Amanda (Richard), Sarah (Michael) and Michael (Nadine), and grandmother of Gavin Wilson and Rachael Cook. Her nursing career was overtaken by family life, and she was later diagnosed with pulmonary hypertension. Nevertheless, Sally traveled the world with Ken - Far East, The Americas, Australia, Caribbean, UK top to bottom, Europe, North Africa. In October, she developed pneumonia and, despite expert management, died peacefully in Royal Jubilee Hospital. Sally loved and supported her children and husband unconditionally. She will be remembered forever. We thank Dr James Cox, medical and nursing staff at RJH and Vancouver General for their sustained efforts to help Sally. Private cremation and family gathering forthcoming. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to a charity of your choice. No relation, passed for list info only. Sorry to have bothered you. I've now found the BT's which, though still difficult, do confirm the child as Zacary Gambles. Regards, Irene
Hello all and Happy New Year I’m trying to read a name in Guisborough’s church records on line at Find My Past. http://search.findmypast.co.uk/record?id=gbprs%2fyorkshire%2f13-0743_gb-yor_parish-registers-t-pr-gu-2-1-1-1537-1900%2f00010&parentid=gbprs%2fyorkshire%2fbap%2f207969695&highlights=%22%22 I suspect that the link won’t work – certainly not for anyone not a subscriber but maybe will for anyone with a sub. But if not you can find it by searching Yorkshire baptisms with Guisborough as the parish. The surname is GAMBLES but the index has omitted the final S. The transcriber hasn’t managed to read the forename but I thought that some of you might be able to do so. The date is 17 Aug 1669. The page is pretty clear considering the time period. The clerk has made a bit of a mess of entering the forename but I think it goes on to say Gambles (crossed out) and then ye Sun of Thomas Gambles baptised ye 17 Agust. My best guess is Zacary but that’s uncommon and no further sign of this child appears either marrying or being buried. Can anyone help? Thanks, Irene

I have be using FTM ever since release #2. Been laying in the weeds not doing much for the last few years, then decided I had better get at it... I printed a Descendant tree file and noticed a few errors or oddities. On some of the entries, between the generation number and the name, there appears a number in square brackets such as [1]. I don't know what these are telling me. I assume it is an error of some sort. In one spot, they extend consecutively from four to 102. In other words each entry from #4 on has a number.. Can someone please tell me what they mean??
