I however do have a Hohsteter line that does not go back to Jacob. I tell people that I am 1/4 Amish, as 1/4 of my ancestry is Amish through my mother's father Richard Yoder. On my Father's side of the family, I am able to trace my descent from DJH9047 Ulrich Hohsteter who was a soldier who fought under General Braddock before the Revolutionary war. I have not been able to find much information about him though. His descendants did intermarry with some of Jacob's descendants, so there is some speculation that he may be related to Jacob. There were also a few other Hochstetler immigrants, but none left the progency that Jacob did. We are greatly indebted to Harvey's books for our knowledge of our family. However, there are still a few mysteries even about Harvey. Did he indeed have children? He lists several children for himself in the book, but there is no documentary evidence of him ever having children. I have done some census research on him, and the census never shows any children.
