Dear Yoder cousins: I am a resident of the "magic kingdom" of Anaheim, in Orange County, California. That I live in this area is a direct result of my grandparents, Sam Carey and Kathryn Plank, deciding 76 years ago this month that they couldn't face yet another winter in Champaign County, Ohio. They moved here with their children and now there is a fifth generation of Careys living in Southern California. Grandma was one of many Planks who lived in neighboring Logan County, Ohio. Great-grandmother Elizabeth Wilhelm Plank married one David D. Yoder after her first husband died and was always referred to by my family as "Grandma Yoder". But she's not really my Yoder connection. Great-great-grandfather, Samuel Plank, came to Logan County from Mifflin County, PA, along with his wife Juliana Hertzler and their eleven children some time in the 1840's. His mother was Barbara Yoder (YRB3?). There were apparently a lot of Yoders living in Logan County, Ohio, and may still be. Two interesting sources of information which I've come across in the L.A. County public library are: History of Logan County, by O. L. Baskin, 1880 and Logan County, Ohio, 1982, Volume One, A Collection of Historical Sketches and Family Histories Compiled by Members and Friends of the Logan County Genealogical Society, Bellefontaine, Ohio What little info I have about my Plank and Yoder ancestry is based on research of a Mormon cousin of mine who used AAMG, or Gingerich & Kreider, as her primary source. Does anybody know where AAMG is currently available? This was a great idea, Ginseng. Let's all keep in touch!
