I visited this small graveyard and took photos and videos July 4th weekend while I was in the area for a Yoder reunion (of Jonathan [YR234491] & Lydia (Custer) Yoder). My dad and I had to piece together some of the stones. There are several YODERs here as well. Here is a listing of all of the tombstones that I could read (note: I've added birthdates here for reference; the newer stones usually listed specific death date as well as age yymmdd format. The numbers in brackets are reference numbers for the A&AMG book): David Yoder 11/5/1811-2/20/1905 [YR235a] and his wife Sarah Eash 11/18/1821 - 4/2/1902 [ES123] Jacob Yoder 4/24/1861-11/1/1883 [YR235a8] and his wife Mary Orris 2/28/1858-2/25/1881 Barbara Yoder - stone missing lower part where date would be [perhaps could be YR235a4] Anna Eash 11/10/1843-1/3/1884 [ES4d3] wife of Samuel Rose Other stones have the following inscriptions (I have not yet identified these - any help would be appreciated): CE 1889 IE 1850 (this is the stone believed to be the Bishop Jacob Eash's (yes it is IE not JE) BY 1889 MY 1881 DY 1860 SE 1880 SH 1888 JY SY ML 1898 If anyone would like copies of photos or video drop me a note. I would also like to hear from any Eash/Ashe/Esch/Esh/etc researchers out there who might be interested in working on or receiving an EASH newsletter. On July 14th: in 1864, David Yoder (Con3), third child of Conrad Yoder of NC, died at the age of 94 and in buried in the Grace Church Cemetery. It is said that he went to Georgia in 1814, but didn't like it and returned to NC. in 1914, Christian Yotter (AQ2) died in West Point Iowa. Christian had been born 12/12/1831 in Sembach, Germany to Johann Jotter (1803-1838) and Agnes Gobel. His brother Henry settled in Alden,NY and has descendants there today. On July 15th: Major Charles T. Yoder (see YNL 18 and 29) was born in 1843. On July 16th: From the Joder/Jotter Chronik by Karl Joder and Ottmar Jotter (See the Homepage Archives): "According to the Bernese regime's Council Manual [Minutes] 222/15 of 16 July 1690 (in the City Archive of Bern): 'The regime orders Provincial Governor von Trachselwald to inquire whether the Anabaptists Jost Joder and Christen Blank from Steffisburg are staying, as reported, in Schangnau and whether they have brought their property there. As soon as this is confirmed, it should be reported to the Anabaptist Chamber [Tauferkammer]."
Rec'd note on July 10 from Chris Yoder Saying Alan Adrianson looking for descendants of Moses Yoder, first husband of Rebecca Eash. In my own records none of the Moses Yoders married a Rebecca Eash, however I offer my Eash information as a possible route to finding your particular Moses. Catherine Stutzman (b. 9/25/1793 d. 2/17/1879) married Daniel Eash (b.9/3/1793 d. 2/17/1879) children: Tobias, Henry, Susan, Annie, Moses and John Daniel was the son of Bishop Jacob Eash (1774-1850) who was married to Susanna Miller (d. 1842) There are somewhere in the neighborhood of 300 Yoders in Catherine's children's generation. It is my experience that every family repeats Christian/given names over and over and marrying cousins was a fairly common practice. So, for example, Moses could have been a nephew of Catherine's and still have married a niece of Daniel's! I have a feeling this does not shed light. It is my only offering on the subject. Good luck.
The Url is: http://www.genealogy.org/~yoder/ Went to the homepage for the first time today and found that it contained a lot of useful information. Dave Dickel
I want to thank everyone that responded to my request for the URL for the YODER Homepage. Thanks again, Dave Dickel DDickel@aol.com

Alan Adrianson would like to hear from descendants of Moses Yoder (1856-1883) first husband of Rebecca Eash. Married in Elkhart Co,IN in 1880. Or from others with info on his ancestry. Reply to: AAdrianson@aol.com
July 8, 1666- Catherine Joder who married Hans Rupp was Born in Steffisburg. July 8, 1775- Samuel Yoder was born (believed OY413) who m. Esther Reppert. July 9, 1803- Elijah Yoder (one of our unlinked-"AC") was born. He lived in Schuylkill Co., Pa. July 10, 1836- John Yoder was born (unlinked "BO1"). This John married in 1858 in Greene Co, OH to Mary C. Swadener and died in Dayton 1921. He is apparently the son of another John who may have died before 1850.
I've been busy restoring files and programs on my personal PC due to a crash on Wednesday (this didn't effect the archives which are on a server in California). On this Day in Yoder History in 1596 the likely common ancestors of us all, Caspar Joder and Margret Henning, were married in Steffisburg. On July 1st 1863, Samuel B. Yoder was severely wounded at Gettysburg (see YNL15 page 5). On July 2, 1864- Moses Yoder (Brother of Congressman S.S. Yoder) died in service of the Republic. He is buried in the National Cemetery in Chattanooga....where his stone is mis-labeled "Moses YADEN". Thank goodness the biggest share of workload (new census records) had already been uploaded, but I've lost all email addresses, bookmarks, and several other working files. If you've sent me data by email, I'd appreciate a retransmital using the "cyoder@mail.tds.net" address (rather than compuserve for now). Also, if any one of you has recently ordered and received the Yoder Disks...please contact me...I'd like to compare file dates and see if any include updates not yet posted to the archives. Happy Day anyway. We are truely blessed that our ancestors had the good judgement to come to this wonderful country. Chris Yoder Yoder Newsletter

Reply-To: concurs0@airmail.net Subject: Yoder family Possibly you already know that there was a large Yoder family in TX. My mother's sister (d). was married to Marvin Clifford Yoder, who still lives. His father and his brothers owned/operated successful auto. dealerships for YEARS. These passed to the children. I am niece to MC Yoder, by marriage. Am looking for anything on Baer, Vance, Patton, none in PA, probably. concurs0@airmail.net The final "o" in screen name is a "zero"

HOLDEMAN DESCENDANTS (1937 by Edwin L. Weaver) states that The John Yoder family had moved from Pa. to Ohio in 1818. They lived in Columbiana Co., near Leetonia, Ohio. He died in 1866 and is buried in the Nold (?) Men. Cem., Fairfield Twp, Columbiana Co. OH. Later (1826) one of his younger brothers, Peter S. Yoder also moved to the Leetonia area. This is the family of Abraham Yoder who was married to Maria Sell.
Donald..just started going through some of the Unlinked.... On MUF1- John S. Yoders born 1807. m. Barbara Miller. died 28 June 1854. YES---YB2143 Chris...
I'm looking for information about John Yoder (1777-1820), s/o Abraham Yoder and Maria Sell. Did he stay in PA, and if so, what township (Upper Saucon, Lehigh Co?) or did he move to Wayne Co OH. His daughter Nancy married Amos Holdeman. Harvey S. Rutt says in THE GENEALOGY OF THE SHAUM AND HOLDEMAN FAMILIES that Nancy & Amos married in PA. Rutt mentions Nancy's brother, "Uncle John Yoder", and says Nancy was "a woman of great strength of mind, of extreme force of character". I'll send the whole quote if anyone is interested.
