Taking an idea from something I've seen on another family listserver, how about doing a "Yoder Roll Call" ...as a means of letting each other know who is out there on the Yoder listerver (among our almost 90 members). I'll start it off: 1. Christian Yoder (c1695-c1775) (YR2) 2. "Schweitzer" Christian Yoder (1726-1816) (YR23) 3. Bishop Christian Yoder Sr (1758-1838) (YR233) 4. Chris Yoder (1949- ) (Of course you all don't really have to reveal how old you are!) ==== YODER Mailing List ==== Have you visited the YODER NEWSLETTER ARCHIVES lately? http://www.genealogy.org/~yoder/

Hi Chris, What a wonderful idea. I don't know how much I can contribute but I will certainly give it my best. Haven't visited the site for a while due to a death in the family, but I can't wait to get back into it. Will send my info tomorrow. beckep@som-uky.campus.mci.net Pat Becker ==== YODER Mailing List ==== Have you visited the YODER NEWSLETTER ARCHIVES lately? http://www.genealogy.org/~yoder/
On October 22, 1809, one Christian Yoder (Butcher Christ) wrote: "now I will write down in what years my Father's brothers and sisters were (born)'': Aunt Barbara Yoder Born in the year 1725 Aunt Mattie Yoder Born in the year 1726 Uncle Christian Yoder Born in the year 1728 Aunt Elizabeth Yoder Born in the year 1729 Uncle John Yoder Born in the year 1732 Father Yost Yoder Born in the year 1734 Aunt Franny Yoder Born in the year 1739 Uncle Jacob Yoder Born in the year 1740 Further along in the account, Jacob C. Yoder, his grandson, who continued the genealogy and had descended from two different Yoder lines, said that on his mother's side he was descended from Butcher Christian, son of Yost, who was the son of Strong Jacob. That the above children belonged to Strong Jacob was thus handed down in print from this source, an others, for many years. (See YNL 2, page 6)

If anyone can help this young lady, please reply directly ----------------------------------- I am writing this message hoping that you may be able to assist me in locating a childhood friend. I am trying to contact someone by the name of Tim Yoder. The birth year would be anywhere from 1960-1963. We were friends back in the 1976ish to 1980ish time frame. Tim lived in Midland Michigan at that time. His parents were officers in the Salvation Army in Midland Michigan. His father passed away sometime around 1984-1987, on the date of December 21st, the same day my own mother died. I would like very much to contact Tim Yoder. You can contact me at the following E-Mail address: Kimberly_Walker@eee.org Thank you for your time.

On Oct. 14, 1642 Brothers Jost and Nicholas Joder married cousins named Trachsel in Steffisburg. These two brothers are the progenitors of the Oley Yoder line, and through a number of Anabaptist sons in each family are believed likely ancestors of the Amish and Mennonite Yoders.

I've never used gedcom before. Is it easy to do between paf and the family tree maker? Any known problems? I have upgraded my system and now have both programs but haven't decided which one to use. Most of my history is in paf but I like some of the features the family tree maker has. Thanks. Cheryl Wallace
