My great grandfather was John Carlton Blair. His third marriage ( to Sarah Shearer) produced the following children: Waightstill Avery, Louesa, and John Carlton, Jr. which is the line I descend from. John Carlton, Sr. and Sarah Shearer Blair are both buried in the Blues Hill Cemetery in Warren County, TN. We only found out a few years ago about his earlier marriages to Julia Conley and Lidia Ann Yelton and the children born to those unions. In 1998, my husband and I traveled to NC and met descendents of the earlier marriages. The descendents of the second marriage to Ms. Yelton were living in the Mountain City, TN area which is about 45 minutes from the Boone/Blowing Rock area.
