I received the following from the rootsweb PML search and cannot identify the William Yelton involved. Does anyone recognize this family? William David 'Dick' Arthur was the son of William Arthur and Sarah (Adams) Arthur. He was born on October 17, 1837, and married Mary Elizabeth Padgett on June 27, 1859. She was born on May 12, 1838 and died on August 7, 1901. He died on November 30, 1920 and both are buried at the Corn Creek Cemetery in Phelps County near Edgar Springs. They had eight children: Child number three married a Yelton: 3. Laura W. Arthur was born on May 2, 1883 and died on March 9, 1926. On December 18, 1894 (age 11 ?) she married William Yelton. He was born in 1872 and died in 1947. Both are buried at the Corn Creek Cemetery. They had four children.
Got him. William was the son of Barnett C. Yelton & Mary Pauline Harmon. I knew he married a Laura, but did not know her maiden name. I have names and birthdates for 3 of their children: James (Mar. 1898), Alva (Jan. 1900), and Sherman (4 Aug 1902). According to the 1900 Census for Phelps County, MO, Laura was born in May 1875, which makes a lot more sense than 1883. Barnett C. Yelton was the son of Barnett Yelton and Mary Ellen Ford, and the grandson of Charles H. Yelton and Susannah Rogers. He & his brother William moved from North Carolina to Missouri around 1871.
