All If you have looked for Yelton's in the Mormon's 1880 census extraction, you may have found some Yelton's missing. Given the spelling variations for the Yelton name this is not uncommon. The Mormons program uses the concept of surname and standard surname. In the case of Yelton, if you enter either Yeltin or Yelten (surname) it will find the standard surname of Yelton. On the 1880 Mormon Census, are they really counting everyone anyway? As the federal 1880 soundex they only included families with children 10 and under.
