SPRUCE PINE, N.C. — James Yelton, 72, Bakersville, died Wednesday, Feb. 6, 2002, at Brian Center. Mr. Yelton was a Mitchell County native and a son of the late Will Yelton and Texie Hughes. He was employed as a furniture worker by Henredon Furniture Co. Mr. Yelton was a member of McKinney Grove Baptist Church. Survivors include one daughter, Fran Buchanan, Bakersville; two sons, Joey Yelton, Spruce Pine, and Johnny Yelton, Hickory; three sisters, Polly Hoilman and Minnie Hoilman, both of Bakersville, and Dolly Jones, Hickory; three brothers, Frank Yelton, Bakersville, and Warfield Yelton and Bill Yelton, both of Spruce Pine; three grandchildren; and one great-grandson. --- Funeral services for James Yelton will be conducted Friday, Feb. 8, 2002, at 7 p.m. at the Henline-Hughes chapel. The Rev. Ronnie Gouge and the Rev. Buster Yelton will officiate. Visitation will be from 6-7 p.m. Friday, Feb. 8, 2002, at Henline-Hughes Funeral Home.
